Nobody 'really' votes on the award............except Messier.  It's not really 'sponsored' by the NHL.  In fact, the award is so legit.............it doesn't even get mentioned in the NHL Guide and Record Book (or NHL.com that I can see).

  2. Congrats to him!

  3. Wtf? He lead his team to  a 36-35-11 record.

  4. I love Sundin, but the best thing he could have done for his team would be to wave his no trade clause and allow a depleated Leafs team to get something in return for him this past trade deadline. While it was within his rights to do that, my best guess is a guy like Sakic would have put the team ahead of himself and sucked it up for for few months playing elsewhere.

The best leader this year? My vote goes to the best player on the best team (all season): Lidstrom

  5. A bit of a surprise winner IMO......I guess the refusal to waive his no-trade clause because he wanted to win the cup with the team that he has been in the long haul with stuck in the mind of the voters.

Christ people..........what does winning ANY award mean then?

  6. does it mean anything?

  7. I'm just glad it wasn't Crosby.  The award isn't worth very much, especially considering they announced it after the second game of the Stanley Cup Finals on a worthless cable channel right at the end of the broadcast.  The timing was awful if it is meant to be anything special.

  8. I am happy with that Sundin is a great player and even though i am a flyers fan i can respect him cause he is not a baby like the rest of pitt team.

  9. That was nice........congrats to Sundin.

  10. This is a stupid award.
