The YUCATAN peninsula!! is this a trick question? the yucatan peninsula is made up of 3 states: yucatan; campeche and quintana roo.  the mayans of mexico also inhabited more southern states of mexico such as chiapas, parts of tabasco as well as northern belize.  the dialect is different to that spoken by the guatemalan mayans from tical for example.  just food for thought:  in the movie apocalypto the ruins that are portrayed are those of tical... sooooo why are they speaking the maya yucatec dialect??
