  1. The media only promotes what is in high demand. Stupidity is one thing, which is probally why foriegn countries think america is filled with a bunch of retards.

  2. The media doesn't actually promote a selfish society. This is a tricky idea, though, so I hope you can follow along.

The media is driven by what people want. People are very sexual, so we want to see s*x. We're pretty violent, so we want to see some violence. The media is a mirror of what people want. Eventually, those things we want get slapped onto other things we could potentially want. We see soap commercials with loads of s**y women and think "Wow, I like s*x. I need soap. Let's have both." Eventually, the two are associated.

It's a bit of a dirty trick, but it's too easy to blame the media. After all, aren't the media outlets just run by people?

  3. It isn't totally the media's fault...

The media takes an idea from real people but then blows it totally out of proportion and distorts it into a caricature of the original idea...

American’s like thin women? We get Heroin Scheck…

American’s like watching a car wreck on the freeway? We get Reality TV…

In America, 20 years ago, no women in p**n shaved… Now, if you don’t look as smooth as an 8 year old girl you are told you are ugly… Less then perfect… Women are told that they need to be that ideal so they not only shave but have surgery to trim down their labia minora so that THEIR bodies look like the airbrushed, plastic Barbie-Doll, bleach-blond blow up dolls that are currently held up as the ideal…  All because that is what the media pushes as the current ‘ideal’. SURGERY because of the media’s influence…

The media has been proven to influence children… There were some studies done recently show that anything advertised on Cartoon Networks and during Saturday Morning Cartoons will be what the kids demand to buy… When they advertise nothing but sugar, children gain weight…

There is TONS of proof on how peoples buying patterns are directly affected by the media.

There is proof that big breasted, blond, anorexic women on the tele leads to a societal perception that we need to accept that as our “Ideal” of beauty…

You see it in every country…

In Brazil, the ideal is small b*****s and tan skin…

In Europe, the ideal is a woman with curves… NATURAL curves… PROPORTINAL curves…

In Asia, it is a Small Woman with tiny feet…

In Europe, I am approached by a dozen men in a week… All asking to court me… and when they find that I am a tourist, ask to have a picture taken with them since I can’t date a man that lives across the ocean from me… In Africa, I get marriage proposals on the street while I am considered Fat and Ugly in the US… Where I can be openly mocked in the street for being both fat and disabled…

Each country is full of people that all find something different attractive… But the media finds out what the “Average” person finds attractive and latches on to that and turns it into the cultural “Ideal”.

It is about as real as Pam Anderson’s b*****s but it is forced down our throats so often that people actually feel guilty and ashamed for being attracted to something outside that artificial ‘norm’.

It is all a grain of truth cloned and distorted and turned into something that barely resembles the original…
