The Memorex 16x-DD6-IN 1A that came with the Dell XPS I bought 3 years ago, has never worked. Dell tried to fix it through telephone call ins, but never got the thing to work. The three year warrenty ran out last May. I tried to get them to send me a new one, but got the runaround till thay no longer had to. Now I have a new Canon digital movie camera, the S100, and it shoots in a format which I still have not found out what it is, and going to the Canon web site was no help and I need to burn a DVD-RW and I need the Memorex to burn it on. Have tried many free software downloads from the internet that change the format of CD's and DVD's, to some other format. None of then worked and most have a banner in the middle of the picture, that rinders the change useless. Sent Canon an email, to find out what the foremat is that the camera shoots in. Right now, I would spend up to $50 on a software program that would do what I want it to do and I still need to get my DVD burner fixed. The programs I have used would find the Memorex, but the burner will not except the change from one format to another. Would it be cheaper to buy a new burner than try to fix the one I have?
