The Mesmerizing, the Enchanting, the bewitching: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 – a true Marketeer (Part 2)
Article Continued from Part 1.
Despite all his overwhelming laurels, public honours, and a dazzling career, no one ever acknowledged Beckham to be the best football player of his generation. So what is the real reason behind his awe-inspiring fame, his world-wide recognized face and his
celebrity studded parties. This is the point where the “David-Myth” begins.
David and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager once stated that he kept Beckham as captain from Peter Taylor’s caretaker
power because he was much famed and well known to the people.
The 35 year old footballer’s fame centres primarily around the titles and watchwords like ‘the golden boy of his generation’, ‘the modern man’, ‘international superstar’ and of course the very well-known ‘Posh and Becks’. Sir Alex Ferguson, by the end of
Beckham’s Man Utd career, started taking him as a doppelganger popstar which was quite contrary to the stereotype elite football official he was known as to him.
David’s fame rose in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 during his two-year sojourn, where he focused primarily on promoting the American game. He has been mentioned in the same way as the words ‘redeemer’ and ‘pioneer’ in the soccer fields of America. The point that is explicit here
is that he did more to promote himself during his stay there, and that truly added to his glittering career.
There is no doubting that David’s looks have added to the caricature of the ‘flawless man’ he is believed to be. It has drawn a majority of women to fall in for his perfect features, muscular built and the height of course. Luck has indeed played its part
for his glorious repute. The British footballer has more than his share of female fans from all over the world.
When throwing spotlight at the international level, we realize that albeit Beckham did break the great Bobby Moore’s outfield England record but never came even an inch close to imitating his accomplishments on the pitch and most certainly not in a World
cup. He might be the revered fashion icon of the generation, but as a footballer, Beckham has a long way to cover.
His phenomenal prestige and fame seem to have a design behind them - An intelligent career path, that is to say.
The fact that makes him a fabulous superstar is indeed his brilliant sense of self as a brand. Yes - what’s Beckham really good at is being a market-eer! David Beckham is an exceptional footballer - he and his agency chooses the brands very consciously,
be it club brands like Man Utd, AC Milan; consumer brands like Pepsi, Gillette; or his own brands like Beckham’s Instinct.
Even the footballer’s wife, Posh Spice was a former pop singer and a part of the hot famous Spice Girls band. It was together that they conquered the media, diverting all eyes on them by allying into the matrimonial ceremony. It’s been past a decade now
that they are in limelight as one of the most prosperous celebrity couple of all times.
The British football player is the richest of his kind in the history of the game. Before even shifting to Los Angeles, he threw a celebrity studded welcoming party, involving the greatest names of the Hollywood industry. We can only guess http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-c35214 Cruise and
Oprah Winfrey wouldn’t really have soccer on their top priority game-watch list. But Beckham made it vital, because that served in ‘spreading the word’ among the civilians.
So it is true to say that David Beckham - an excellent marketeer - made himself ‘the chosen one’ by making good endorsement and investing in the right places. He may not be the legendary player like Maradona, gifted with extraordinary playing skills, but
he definitely knows the right career decisions to make that shines him out and leads to his ultimate superlative fame.
