Two of the better journeymen in the game. Witherspoon wins a close decision in what would be a pretty entertaining fight. I could see both finding a place on the canvas at least once in the 10 rounds.

of all the champions between ali & tyson, holmes was clearly the best, with witherspoon in second place, so tim wins a decision over weaver.

Weaver was losing in that fight with Tate. He caught him and KO'd him in the 15th round.

Both were decent fighters, but Witherspoon was a little better.

In terms of style and skill I could see witherspoon taking a decision.  However,  how often did he enter the ring in shape?  Not very often.  Weaver was always in shape.  He was godaweful slow but he was always in shape.  

I could see Whiterspoon boxing Weaver silly for 10 of the first  12 rounds, with a lot of clinching.  Like Bowe,  Witherspoon had that "One" night when he was at his best.  The rest of his preformances were sub-par for a man with his skills.  Also like Bowe,  Tim just didnt like to train.  He was better than the rest of the 80s crew between Holmes and Tyson,  so much so that he make a mild comeback near 40 years of age.  

I dont see Witherspoon getting in the best of shape for Weaver.  I could see  "the Tim who extended Holmes"  beating Weaver by decision.  However, in the real world Witherspoon would not,  and DID not ever come in in that kind of shape.  I have to go with the way he USUALLY fought.  

I see Tim's poor stamina, due to his lackluster training habits, failing him.  After 12 rounds Tim is winded.  They are now landing evenly with Weaver having the greater effect on his punches.  In round 14 Weaver works Witherspoon to the ropes and lands one final right hand.  Witherspoon saggs to the ropes,  Weaver lands one final right that wasnt even necessary.  

Tim is counted out.
