The Military DEP program?

Once you have joined a branch and are in the DEP program, is it possible to leave the state you joined as long as your back before you fly to basic?

I recently joined the Air Force and now i'm in the DEP program. Most likely I will have another 3 months to wait before I go to basic. In the mean time I was thinking about going to stay with some friends or family in another state. The only problem is the DEP meeting they hold once or twice a month. Has anyone else had luck with this?

  1. im in the foregin legion, i can kill someone with a bubblegum wrapper

  2. Your recruiter is your chain of command - as long as you let them know that you will be gone and miss a meeting you should have no problems doing so.

  3. Generally it's no problem as long as you call to check in on the day of the DEP meeting and leave a contact number just in case your shipping date changes. It's rare, but does happen.

It's up to your recruiter, but that's the way I used to handle it.

  4. yeah you can go, you can even stay where you are, tell your recruiter and he will switch the office you are located at and you can do all of your DEP stuff at another recruiter station close to you.

  5. you really dont need to go to those meeting my mexican *** left the country for a couple of months just let your recruiter know and you will be fine

  6. I was an Army recruiter from 2000-2004. Talk to your recruiter. You can probably leave the state and still attend DEP functions at that location. Also, your recruiter may be able to transfer your records and coordinate for you to ship out from another state. Congratulations on joining the military and best of luck to you.

  7. Nothing is mandatory while in the DEP..It is in your best interest to attend those meetings but if you can not attend then that's on you and its your loss..

If you feel going to be with friends is more important then your commitment then do it..Just be sire to tell your recruiter where you will be.
