The Milwaukee Brewers are reported to have met Silver Slugger Aramis Ramirez – MLB News
The Silver Slugger Aramis Ramirez is reported to have been a name the Milwaukee Brewers are contemplating based on a report on Wednesday, December 7. Interestingly, the news reports also suggest it is not only the Brewers alone which have been brooding over
and trying to secure a deal with Ramirez.
The Los Angeles Angels are also in line along with a couple of other teams whose names were not revealed. The 33-year-old Ramirez is already reported to have met Ron Roenicke, the Brewers’ manager and Mike Scioscia, the Angels’ manager.
The fact that Roenicke has personally met Ramirez underscores the significance of the meeting and the importance the Brewers attach to the acquisition of this player. A Silver Slugger, Aramis Ramirez’s arrival in the club will add to the already powered
Brewers’ offence.
The meeting, whose timing was not reported, however, was attended by Doug Melvin, the Brewers’ general manager and Principal owner Mark Attanasio. Roenicke, on Wednesday, December 7, confirmed the meeting.
Melvin, on the other hand, stated that it was always good to meet face-to-face with a player. "It's always good when you see face-to-face with a player," Melvin said.
Of the two teams which have extended offers to Ramirez, the Brewers remain ideally suited for him owing to the fact that it will enable him to remain in the National League, unlike that of Los Angeles Angels.
The three year deal that the Silver Slugger is looking for is not very certain at the moment even though the meeting has already taken place. If Angels go for C. J. Wilson a free-agent starter, it may cut short their search for him.
Once that is done, it will be intriguing to see whether the Brewers remain able and have the resources to offer an appealing contract to the Silver Slugger Aramis Ramirez during the Winter Meetings. His inclusion in to the team will give a tremendous boost
to the Brewers for the 2012 regular season. It will be interesting to see if the Brewers are able to acquire Aramis Ramirez, as he will add some depth to their offence.
