  1. Sisters of Mercy, But Fields of the Nephilim is a close second

  2. The Sisters of Mercy, the other two dont compare(although i do like The Mission)...

  3. fields of the nephilim no contest

  4. The Sisters for me as well. They were more interesting, explored a broader range of sounds IMO,and I like Eldritch's voice the best.

  5. i used to really like sisters until, that is, i saw them in concert a few years ago.  they lip synched their way thru the whole show and used tons of fog and darkness to hide it.  we knew what was up when their music skipped.  oops.

  6. I agree with Helmstok, I'd much rather listen to Bauhaus or Virgin Prunes.

But for the rare occasion I'm in the mood for that style of goth, I'd probably pick The Mission, with the Sisters of Mercy coming in second, and I don't particularly care all that much for Fields of the Nephilim.

  7. Cocteau twins, but out of these 3, I'd have to pick the mission if i really, really had to pick one of them.

  8. SOM.

Black Planet is one of my all time favorite tunes.

    Andy Eldritch, what's up bro?

  9. The Sisters of Mercy. The others are ok, but they don't compare to the Sisters in my opinion, not by a long stretch.

  10. I prefer the mission

  11. the mission

  12. out of those, I like Sisters of Mercy best

  13. Sister of Mercy by a long shot. However, you should listen to Irish band The Virgin Prunes album 'If I die, I die' Best Goth album ever!!

  14. Sisters of Mercy.  Saw them twice in their prime. Well, I sort of saw something moving behind the dry ice....

Fields of The Nephilim were at least quite funny.  The Mission were hopeless - just because you can be a good guitarist for one band doesn't mean you can be any good as a singer/songwriter for another.

  15. pas the sick bucket. i preferred the virgin prunes and bauhaus

  16. All are good... but uncle Andy is the best.

The Sisters lyrics are perfect, and Andrew has a unique voice.  Caught them a few years ago on their silver bullet tour (silver anniversery).  Caught them both in Vegas, and in DC... both shows were great, though the starter band for them was pretty crappy.

"I'm lying on my back now

The stars look all too near

    Flowers on the razor wire

    I know you're here

    We are few

    And far between

I was thinking about her skin

Love is a many splintered thing

    Don't be afraid now

    Just walk on in

    (Flowers on the razor wire)

    (Walk on in)

    Her eyes were cobalt red

    Her voice was cobalt blue

    I see no purple light

    Crashing out of you

    So just walk on in

    (Flowers on the razor wire)

    (Walk on in)

Her lovers queued up in the hallway

I heard them scratching at the door

    I tried to tell her

About Marx and Engels, God and Angels

I don't really know what for

But she looked good in ribbons

    So just walk on in

    She looked good in ribbons

    So just walk on in"
