The Most Brutal Matches in WWE history: Inferno
Playing with fire can be dangerous as it just about always brings with it carnage and destruction. Try telling this to those WWE wrestlers who are willing to put their opponents on fire to win a fight though.
An Inferno match brings so much carnage and destruction that it has only taken place on four different occasions in WWE history. Fire burns on all four sides of the ring and flames go up whenever a wrestler executes a high powered move. The match ends when one wrestler puts the other one on fire. A wrestler can literally use any weapon avalible, to knock down his opponent. But wrestlers usually don't even need weapons in this match as the fire is enough to end the match, and at the same time shorten or end a wrestlers career. The flames often touch heights of 6 feet and reach maximum temperatures of 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
Even the most hardcore wrestlers of WWE wouldn't dare participate in the inferno match. The big red monster, Kane gained popularity after participating in an inferno match, one that was a brutal, life threatening fight. Kane has participated in all four inferno matches. Even Kane's entrance theme for normal wrestling matches involves fire; which is the trademark of Inferno matches. Legend has it that Kane was burnt in fire when he was a kid, so he is at ease when participates in Inferno matches.
The first two inferno matches were fought between the dead man, Under Taker and his half brother Kane. Both of them were classic matches as the competitors tried to push each other into flames burning around the ring. The competition was so breath taking that it seemed for a moment that the wrestlers would drop dead during the match. The Under Taker survived many close calls, as his body wouls get really close to the fire and it would seem as though he would go up in flames.
At the end though, the Under Taker reigned supreme, as he put the big red monster on fire. After witnessing this carnage and destruction, no wrestler ever dared to participate in an inferno match with Kane. But it was The Game, Triple H who stood up the challenge and fought an Inferno match with Kane. Both wrestlers pushed each other to the limits and fought as close as possible to the flames. Unfortunately for Kane, he lost again and was burnt in the fire.
However burning in fire did not stop the big red machine from participating in an Inferno match. Kane and Montel Vontavious Porter (M. V. P) engaged in a bitter rivalry in 2006. Both wrestlers ripped each other apart whenever they got the chance and things reached a personal level. Both of them agreed to settle their scores in a brutal Inferno match. Though M. V. P was confident before the start of the fight, he literally begged Kane to forgive him when the red monster walked into the ring.
Kane was in a sadistic mood as he took the safety pad off the top turn buckle, put it on fire and tried to punch M. V. P with it. M. V. P barely saved himself and quickly threw the burning turn buckle pad outside the ring. The brutal match ended when Kane choked M. V. P by grabbing his throat and putting him back under the flames. M. V. P was literally burning to death and emergency personal came to put out the fire with extinguishers.
Four long years have passed and no one has even dared to fight an Inferno match. Inferno matches are unlikely in the near future and many believe that no one would be willing to fight in one again, after Kane retires from professional wrestling. It is easier to recover from getting hit badly, as a wrestler would recover eventually, but an Inferno match leaves scars on the body which can never be forgotten.
