  1. Yea I agree Shane Mosley has to be the nicest guy in boxing. Always smiling, always happy, never degrades an opponant, shows everyone respect, and dosnt make excuses when he loses. Class act all the way.

Also Ricky Hatton and Kelly Pavlik both seem to be very down to earth nice guys.

The Golden boy got his nickname because he was the only american to win a gold medal in the olympics in whatever year it was, late 80's or so. You can find out on line, im not looking.

  2. Oscar Awards...,

  3. I will go with Sugar Shane Mosely on this one , mainly because of how the man carries himself. He has never been disrespectful to anyone in the ring, he also is never cocky. Even in defeat he is gracious. The guy is too nice to like  and always shows good sportsmanship.

  4. Oscar :) because he's hot! But really, I like how he is respectful as well unlike many other boxers.

  5. As a Brit i would have to say either Hatton or Calzaghe both handle themselves with class inside and outside of the ring, both like to let their boxing do the talking and dont run their mouths off about their opponents. I have also met both fighters on occasion and they have always got bags of time for their fans which is great to see, other athletes seem to not want to bother signing autographs but these two will stand for hours signing which is great in my eyes as it is the fans who put the money in their pockets anyway. Both are real gents and a credit to our great sport.

I would agree with the other answerers too that Oscar and Sugar Shane both come across as great guys too, they are both very humble after all they have achieved and deserve all the plaudits they get for being this way.

  6. I'd have to go with Oscar overall.  That's how he got the name the "Golden Boy."  The name pretty much sums up his persona outside the ring, and at least for a great deal of his career, described his performances in the ring.  In addition, the gold medal and the story of his mother's passing won the hearts of many people.  At the same time, his handling of the last three rounds of the Trinidad fight will probably always be a thorn in his side.

  7. In my opinion Joe Louis , He was a true champion inside and outside of the ring. No other boxer has the class that the brown bomber had.

  8. pavlik

    oscar

    mosely

    hatton

all seem like genuine nice guys

  9. Do you mean active today, or for all time?  If it's the latter, I'll go with Sugar Ray Leonard.  He was courteous and respectful in interviews, never boastful, and showed sportsmanship in the ring, not punishing an opponent after clearly beating him.

  10. I would also say Shane Mosley.  I've never heard him talk badly about another boxer.

  11. Winky Wright seems very appreciative to have what he does.  It took him a while to get to where he is and he seems to be humble with a workmanlike ethic, he has the same trainer from the start, which shows loyalty, a lot of the top guys end up flip floppin' trainers/cornermen, it's refreshing to see some loyalty.
