Understand the question please? Ali, Marciano, Louis, Dempsey, Johnson, Sharkey, Baer, Carnera, Charles, Walcott, Johansson, Patterson, Norton, Holmes and other fighters I've failed to mention. Who in your mind is the most lovable heavyweight champion of all time? Not based on ring achievements but personality and public appeal based on who he is as a man? I say it's George Foreman! I know Ali beat him in the great battle in Zaire! I know Ali's public appeal is a well deserved one and he is right up there. I'm just saying that Foreman has gone from a great champion to a bigger champion as a person. He has shown that he is a good man and really cares about people in his public persona and I for one really appreciate that. Don't get me wrong because I love Muhammad Ali! I just think that George Foreman should be given a lot of credit for what he has become in todays society. Talk to me!

  1. lennox lewis oops im joking joe louis was the most loved heavyweight champion of all time hes at rest in arlington national cemetary and did not see combat action though he was in the service when he didnt even really have to be in support of his country the night he destroyed max schmeiling in their second fight in the first round america and much of the world were cheering for joe louis joe louis represented freedom schmeiling represented n**i germany though schmeiling himself really didnt like n**i germany but hitler forced him to represent himself as a n**i louis wanted revenge for his only loss at the time to max as well as representing he was american he almost killed scmeiling in just half of 1 rd breaking his his back with punches as well as ribs and jaw that night louis became one of the biggest heroes in america that night some experts say nobody would of beat him on that night not even muhummad ali

  2. Ali went out of his way to respond to me when I wrote him a letter as a 12 year old, and even got up very early in the morning to do a conference phone call with my entire class before he had to catch a flight. This was extremely generous behavior for a huge, world-wide celebrity--it was shortly after he retired for the last time and before his health began to noticiably deteriorate. He spent over an hour answering questions and being his entertaining self for a classroom full of anonymous sixth graders located in a podunk corner of the nation. His only motivation for this could have been that he genuinely has a big heart, likes children, and thinks it is important to take the time to interact with them. I've also read that somebody once said he had about a "thousand dollar a day habit"--meaning that he just randomly gave out that kind of cash to people and charities pretty much every day. He is the greatest heavyweight of all time, no question, but he may be a greater man.

  3. well this question has many answers, if you ask any italian they would tell you rocky marciano, if you ask any old person he would tell you joe louis, if you ask any guy from the 70's he would tell you mohammed ali, if you ask any old white person he would tell you jack dempsey, it all depends on perspective in my opinion the nicest heavyweight i have seen is probably george foreman (the 45 year old foreman not the 23 year old foreman) he is just the nicest guy out there, in american inventor (a show in which he is a judge) he once stayed until late just to sign autographs for boxing fans, he always has something nice to say about everyone, even if they suck, I think he is the most lovable champion i have seen.

  4. George Foreman in his 2nd career was absolutely loved.  He was the big cuddly teddy bear, smiling, joking, and eating cheeseburgers.  In his first career, he was mostly feared and hated for his sour demeanor.  Ali over the years has become adored especially with his struggles with parkinson's but during his prime from '64 through his comeback in '70, he was hated by many in America.  Joe Louis was loved because of the way he defeated Max Schmeling when Schmeling was the face (even though he didn't want to be) of n**i Germany.

  5. Joe Frazier

  6. i want to say ALI because of the obvious reasons

he stood out of the crowd and at the mo is very proud of obama!

but then i want to say tyson because everyfight had contraversy! and was a brilliant fighter!

but for me its got to be ..... joe frazier!

  7. take your pick...george foreman, evander holyfield, muhummad ali, floyd patterson, rocky marciano, and joe louis.

  8. The Brown Bomber, Mr. Joe Lewis

  9. Muhammad Ali is probably the most famous man on this planet. Without a doubt, he is the one. When a fighter is referred to as" The People's Champion", the others are vying for 2nd place. I was fortunate enough to have met him and he was the kindest famous person who I have met yet.

  10. rocky marciano
