The Nationals bring in Jayson Werth on a whooping 7 year deal

The Washington Nationals have been looking to build on a good side for the coming campaign and while the side hasn’t been faring well in Major League Baseball, in terms of the National League ranking, there has been
an influx of finances for the development of the roster. One of the examples from the previous tenure can be directed towards Bryce Harper. The number one draft pick rookie was reeled in to raise the ball club to a level, it has never been on.
The side recently lost Adam Dunn to the Detroit Tigers and while there was a vacancy in the first baseman position, the management has made a quick run to the market to acquire one of the best players in baseball,
Jayson Werth. The former Philadelphia Phillies man was an exceptional figure at the club and he will bring in his inspiring qualities to a side that came last in the National League East.
On the rise of prospects in the Nationals side and his signing on a deal with the club, Werth commented, "I think everybody saw what a game-changer Stephen Strasburg was last year. The Harper kid is coming. He's one
of the better talents in the game. I'm looking forward to playing with a talent like that. The team gave me assurances that they are going to go out and get the type of talent that we are going to need to be competitive and to win. That was one important thing
that is very important to me – winning."
Jayson pounced on a batting average of .296, last season and he steered home 106 runs to get the Phillies to the playoffs. In addition, he drove in 85 runs and slammed out 27 home runs to peak at a slugging figure
of .532. Werth now joins the Nationals on a 7 year deal worth $126 million.
General Manager of the club, Mike Rizzo looked more than pleased to announce the news. He said, "We feel Jayson has the abilities; offensive and defensively. He will fill any hole that was left by Adam Dunn or anybody
else in the middle of the line up. I think our evaluators have seen him improve the last three years to a point where we still think that his best days are still ahead of him. He drives in runs, he scores runs, he prevents runs. We feel that he is an elite
player and an elite pickup for us."
