Where can I get an Ethernet Telephone. The sort that allows you to hold calls (with music) and transfer calls to other telephone on the network. And multiple phones can be used on the same network at the same time. And also what things (apart from the phones) do I need and where can i get them?

  1. Network telephones, also known as IP-Phones are generally used in conjuction with an IP-PBX system installed on your local network.

Linksys manufactures a variety of IP-Phones:

Linksys also manufactures a small easy to use IP-PBX box called the SPA-9000:

Or you could install your own server-based IP-PBX phone system from 3CX Corp:

I use their free 3CX "VoIP Client" Softphone to connect to voip services like CallCentric and InPhonex, directly from my PC.  Many companies that operate their own IP-PBX's also use them as their VoIP gateways.

    3CX VoIP Client:

Also works with the 3CX IP-PBX, or connects directly to BYOD VoIP services like CallCentric and InPhonex.

This is my favorite VoIP user configurable softphone to use.
