The New York Yankees dive in for Cliff Lee

Nothing is official yet but it seems strides are being taken to sign the top free agent pitcher in Major League Baseball at the moment. It hasn’t been long since Sunday ended with a time line to exercise and sign on free agent players leaving their club.
Now that the limit has passed, the free agents have the freedom to go wherever they please, in the market. The New York Yankees are the biggest fish in the pond so it was not a surprise to hear the Baseball giants call on Cliff Lee’s agent, Darek Braunecker,
to tell him they’d call back soon with an offer.
It wasn’t something that many didn’t see coming. The Texas Rangers have been trying to keep their ace in the hole away from the top team in baseball. It was always going to be difficult to pitch the ‘no income tax levy in Texas’, to the top pitcher in the
game. No one would be surprised if the Yanks don’t bloom their offer with an extra million or 5 to bag the best pitcher in the American League. At the moment, the star ball thrower has the ball in his court and it has come to him after a very long time.
Lee was always looking for a way out of his predicament of shifting to clubs, all over the country. One wonders whether the man had his sights set on the Yankees who roster Big man, Carsten Charles Sabathia. The two ball throwers were good friends, back
in the day and it can be speculated that the two would love to get back together, in the same ball club when the time comes.
No matter what the case may be, Cliff Lee is testing the waters and his old team mates from the Rangers support his free will. It seems the 32 year old, who has a post season record of winning 7 out of 9 games, will go for a team that will appeal to him
the most. The experienced pitcher will be hearing from the Washington Nationals who have requested a hearing with the great ball thrower soon.
