The Next Heavyweight Threat?

I believe the next big heavyweight threat will be Alexander Ustinov, from Minsk, Belarus. He is 6'6" and 130Kg (20.5 Stones)

This guy seems to have have it all. He already has competed in the K-1 arena and done well, winning two tournaments.

He has a Kickboxing Record of 46-8-1-1 (26KOs), MMA 6-0 (5KOs).

His boxing record is 11-0 (9KOs) so far.

Who is your favorite to be the next big thing in the heavyweight division?

  1. i believe americans lost interest and that is y these eastern bums win!u want my opinion???if michael jackson or prince or chris rock will gain some weight and train seriously u will ask potevkin who??klitscko who??the americans are back

  2. Well my HOPE is for undefeated American prospect Chris Arreola 24-0 (KO 21) to make a mark on the division especially since the past Americans prospects have seemingly fell apart - Monte Barrett, Calvin Brock, ect.

  3. David Haye--Alexander Ustinov--''The Mexican Nightmare'' Chris Areola--Nicolai Valuev--    By the way...I would love to see Ustinov against Valuev, that would be awesome [but they would have to reinforce the canvas floor of the ring lol]

  4. I think the next big thing in the heavyweight division is proabably Alexander Povetkin, but than again it's hard to say because almost any mediocre fighter can come in and just start winning and considering how weak the division is right now, that same mediocre fighter can possibly have a run at a ridiculous record and than be considered a "great" fighter sometime in the future. so with that said, this is just my opinion, i believe any heavyweight fighter in this current era, we as fans shouldn't expect too much out of, that's pretty much sums up what the division is like right now.

  5. We will ALL find out in early August when the Olympic Finals take place in Beijing China. We should keep our eyes on the final fighters from the Super Heavyweights, down through the regular Heavyweights and even Light Heavyweights{ Both Muhammad Ali and Evander Holyfield came out of Light Heavyweights, so that division can't be discounted}

But in early August, we should have a pretty good idea from the Olympics what much of the Heavyweight landscape will look like over the next decade and more!

  6. david haye will be heavyweight champ as soon as he gets a title shot. these other guys are too big and slow ,20.5 stones the guy will be exhausted by round 3!!

  7. Povetkin seams to be the best of the bunch.

I also like Areola, but Povetkin is more schooled.

  8. David Haye Clearly, Potvenkin will sturggle against Ruiz in a another snore fest!

Haye is the man too root for because he will ensure that the HW division is exciting once again. If Potvenkin defeats Ruiz then goes after Klitshcko, He won't be able to beat him and even if he did then we would still have a champ with a boring safety first style.

David Haye will attack people and thats what we want from our heavyweight champion!

Alexander Ustinov, I don't know why you've included his MMA record as that doesnt really count for anything in Boxing, People who do well striking in MMA wouldn't last a round with any Boxer who knows what he's doing.

His Kickboxing record seems decent but if that from K-1 events he's probably been facing smaller men and I wouldn't take his Boxing record too seriously untill he has fought someone of name value then we will see how good he is.

But for now it's David Haye the next threat!

  9. I agree with GOAT Povetkin is probably the only fighter that i can see who has the chance of beating Wlad (the rest are pathetic). MMA is no kind of warm up to fight a World Champ in Boxing there are lots of great Eastern Europeans who are comong through who have the correct boxing pedigree to challenge our present champs but i watched Ustinov in his last fight on Eurosport and he isnt one of them. Completely straight forward and worked out very easily, decent punch but who hasnt in the Heavyweight division.

  10. David Nino Rodriguez brother! If you haven't seen this guy yet, check him out, I don''t know if many of his fights have been televised so you might not find them on you tube. But if you can your in for a treat.

He's half Mexican, about 6'4  250lb heavyweight. he has 28 wins with 26 ko's. He bends and moves and has huge power in either hand.  Why they have not got him more air time is beyond me.

It is probably promoters are keeping him from fighting their top guys unless he signs with them, Just like what happened to Tyson before King got hold of him.

He hasn't fought any big names or stiff competition, but you can tell allot by the way he fights the tomato cans that he has a little something special.

He's a big guy who can move well has a good jab and huge power.

  11. I saw Povetkin's last fight, he is strong, solid, competent, but he is not spectacular sadly.

IF David Haye can keep his speed and power at Heavyweight, and if his durability improves now hes not having to boil down to cruiser, he couyld be the next big thing.

He certainly has more natural talent than Klitchko, Peter, Povetkin etc, it depends how he transfers to heavy though.

  12. hopefully david haye will show how heavy weight boxers are full of bums.
