Right now, the US is the world's only superpower, as it will remain for along time. But who will raise to the rank of superpower next?

  1. Not one nation can right now can truly match the US. China has population to become great, but communism and the problems with Tibet are holding it back. Russia has some strength, but not enough to hold its own. Brazil wouldn't become a superpower--too much crime, and most of their people are improvershed. India is beginning to become strong, but they have a long ways to go before they can claim superpower status. And Japan has the technological and economic power, but also has a long way to go. The EU, is too discheveled right now to become a superpower as one unit, if they became more unified then maybe.

  2. Citizens. The Right for Humanity to own the planet and conserve planetary resources could  stop resource wars.

To adopt these rights into world constitutions would avoid domination and could avoid much death if the right of Humanity to own the planet were made offial. There is no need to fight for what Humanity already has. Humanity is already in control so there is no need to fight or one power to dominate the other as a pen could harness the power of humanity.

  3. The United states will always be because We are a country made Of the best and brightest people from all over the World. They come here because their Countries suck. The United States is always involved in some kind of War or conflict because We are trying to fix problems, not take over. It is not easy and sometimes We look stupid. But the spirit of The USA will always win.

  4. I think Joe is pretty close to being spot on, the US will never become a second rate power, to much "new blood" and to many inventions and money here to have that happen. I do see a large rise in countries like China, Russia and Brazil. China will have to become more democratic to truly rival the US and that will also cause there economy to slow down since you cannot pay people pennies when they vote to get  you in office and I would not be surprised is Unions see a re-growth in China. Russia has incredible natural resources, Siberia alone could make them a world power thru Minerals, Natural Gas and Oil but it will be a long time till they get a little more "free market" and either get foriegn investors or home grown ones who are confident enough to do so and harvest those vast resources. Brazil has a lot of potential but they are still to corrupt in the Govt and Civil Sector, way far off before they become a great power. I do not see the EU ever becoming what they thing they will become, there is no way those individual countries will shed there national identity to become European over Italian, German, French, etc...plus, you can move from Florida to Washinton and not be that different, you cannot move from Italy to Finland and not have problems. I think Joe is right, we will become a world of Great Powers and I do hope that we can avoid the problems of "old'' Europe but I doubt it.

  5. in order china brazil russia and india

  6. I am of the school of thought that believes the world won't have another definite superpower for some time.  Instead, the US will slowly decline in power until she is 'greatest among greats,' not quite a superpower, but still higher than a great power.  China, the EU (federalized or not), Russia, and India will be the great powers, along with the US.  After a while, Brazil and possibly several other countries will also qualify for great power status.  In other words, history will repeat, and the world will be like Europe of the late 1800s, a collection of great powers.  Hopefully, we'll avoid the two world wars this time.

  7. American Football...it better not ever move overseas...it'll never be watched.  Do we watch soccer...NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. The EU would be my guess for the next superpower as the USA, slips to the biggest thrid world country.

  9. good question.

it seems highgly likely that it has to be China. but there are questions to that one too because China and the USA are totally dependent on each other. if one falls, the collapse of the other one is liable. so it has to be either India or China. or it might stay USA forever. well that is, if we get out of Iraq and the world doesn;t kill us.

  10. NONE OF THE ABOVE

  11. actually we are all messed up. so i vote for the chimpanzees or cockroaches to take over.

  12. the next super power will be china

  13. it will be china they make everything they have ties with the u.s. and we wont touch them casue we know they can destryoy us and thts why we wont touch norrth korea cuz now there not enimes with china there freinds cuz we no if we mess with them china is gonna kill us

  14. I like Brazil, leading the world in alternative energy (sugar cane ethanol), recently discovered huge oil and gas fields, and any talk of "saving" the planet invariably involves the Amazon which is in their territory.  So most green projects to save the Amazon will pour money into their coffers.

China, India and Russia will compete and counterbalance one another.  Due to the geography.  EU's current strength is its ultimate weakness.  It is only as strong as members allow it to be.  Like a house of cards, once one of the members reverts to autocracy the EU is fatally flawed.

PS - US still doing alright as you alluded.

  15. Russia and China will unit and then we will have real problems wait and see

  16. USA

you did not watch Star Trek?

It shows the future of human ....

and most of them are Americans....

that means or proves that the future or by that time, USA remains the great superpower......

  17. Simple

The largest country with armed citizens. As of now, it is USA with as many as 200 Million armed citizens.

A country, no matter how large, cannot become THE superpower unless its citizens have the right to keep and bear arms.

  18. Japan basically controls the world economy.

If China becomes democratic peacefully, they're a good bet too.
