The Numbing Hasn't Gone Done?

I got 3 sealants and 3 fillings done about 2 hours ago, and they had to numb my mouth. The lady said that it should be down by now and one side still hurts a little and both are still numb, is this normal? And I feel a little lightheaded, what should I do about it? And what foods should I try to avoid until my teeth can take hot and cold foods again?

  1. Call your dentist right away. Its not normal to still be numb after 2 days.

  2. it really just depends on how much they used.  i had work done on my mouth on monday and i was out of there by like three but i was still numb until like ten that night.  you might feel a little lightheaded depending on how you react with the pain meds they gave you.  avoid nuts chips and popcorn because those could get stuck in your gums and infect them.  otherwise just stick with softer things.

  3. 1. Numbing wears off after about 6 hours

    2. Have a drink with lots of sugar. E.g. hot chocolate (make sure it's warm), lucozade, tea

    3. You can eat anything you want... but have easy-to-eat foods like salads or pasta.

  4. The numbness all depends on what type of anesthetic they used, I am guessing they used something with epi this could last up to four hours also can make you feel anxious and light headed.  You should wait to eat until the numbness wears off so you don't bite yourself.  Your teeth should not be sensitive to hot and cold if it is your bite may be high.

  5. dont worry about it, it all depends about what type, and how much of the medicine you got. you dont ahve to avoid anything, they tell you not to eat, because you cant feel where you'r cheeks are, and you bite yourself. just try not to eat until it stops. i know it sucks, becasue it hapened to me for 4 hours last time.

    best answer please??

  6. Hope the numbing has settled down now and the fillings are ok.
