The Oil Magnate gets the best odds for Totepool.com Sports, Games, Bingo & More Handicap
The Oil Magnate will be a strong contender for victory in the Totepool.com Sports, Games, Bingo & More Handicap at Ayr in England on Sunday, July 8, 2012. The winning horse will be awarded a cash prize of £2,911 in the end.
There are some very good runners lined up for action in the 1 mile, 5 furlong and 13 yard event, which will start at 16:00 GMT. However, the soft track conditions are likely to work in favour of The Oil Magnate, who has been given a general starting price
of 9 to 4.
The seven-year-old gelding has participated in 21 races until now, which shows that he has got some useful experience and knows how to handle pressure. However, his recent form has not been much impressive, which might discourage the punters from risking
bets on him today.
Furthermore, the Michael Dods’ trainee does not have a good strike rate, which is also a bad sign. He has managed to win just three races in his career whereas finished third on the same number of times. In addition to that, he has also ended runner up on
a couple of times.
Dr Fong’s son out of Bob´s Princess debuted in 2007 and took part in just one race during that season. His performance in it was terrific, as he finished second just a neck distance. He was not rated as the favourite to win back then, but surprised one and
all with his skills.
After taking a long break from the sport, The Oil Magnate got off to a brilliant start in the next season. This was only his second race and the bookies had priced him 9 to 4 in it. He lived up to their expectations back then and took the top spot by seven
lengths.
However, the seasoned runner was unable to continue the same momentum and struggled in his next few outings. Despite that, he ended the season on a high, winning another race that year.
Things have not turned out to be very good for The Oil Magnate over the past few events, but he did a decent job in his previous race, finishing third in it. This would have given him some confidence though and his fans will be expecting him to finish on
the top. He will be ridden by Tom Eaves.
