Question:

The Olympics KING from the BEIJING games? Bolts or Phelps?

Apart from Phelps' roar after the US powered home in the 100m freestyle relay, how many images from the Baltimore superfish can we remember?

And who will ever forget the sight of Bolt gobbling up his rivals as if they were boys at an Open meet?

Now, I know what some of you will say - "You can't compare the two!".

Winning 8 Golds in record times is definitely for the record books, but that all depended on Phelps running more races and relays than Bolt did in the summer games. While Bolt did something that has never been done before too, 2 GOLDS with 2 WORLD records, in the most 2 difficult competitive competitions in the history of the games. True SPEED is at track and field, simply it's much more exciting way to show the limit of the human body.

Long Live the King!

  1. If there was an MVP in Olympics, I believe it would be Phelps

    :-)

  2. Both of them were impressive. From a media standpoint, it was Phelps.

  3. I say Phelps...sorry.

  4. phelps

  5. When Bolt wins 8 golds in record times in a single Olympics game THEN lets try to compare the two.

It's not like he can't, there are enough track events he can enter. All he has to do is train. Phelps trained for several different events.

Who says track is the most competitive sport in the history of the games? I googled it and didn't see that. That's your own opinion.

Unlike Bolt, Phelps has not only set a record in his sport alone but a record for the entire Olympic games.

That's why Phelps is KING of the Beijing games.

  6. Psychologist -- winner of 50m free style isn't the fastest swimmer.  You could dolphin kick underwater faster than a freestyle, but it's not allowed for more than a certain distance.  There is no equivalent to fastest swimmer in swimming since you're restricted to using the pre-defined strokes.

But, I give it to Phelps anyway, because he won 8 medals and because he's American.  He was the fastest swimmer between 100 and 200m for most of the strokes, then his team won those 3 relays for those same strokes.  True, maybe not all countries even have swimming teams and probably many people never have enough money to see a swimming pool, and maybe we have better trainers who teach us the best way to dolphin kick off turns that gives us a few extra seconds advantage in the free, fly, and backstroke events,  but he still won 8 medals.  When Bolt wins 8, you give me a call.  Haha.  Not gonna happen.  Impossible in track!  Unless they decide to add 100 and 200m walking events to the Games.  Keep dreaming Bolt fans.

    Go USA!!!

  7. Bolt of course!!! 100M and 200M are the most anticipated sports in the Olympics. Phelps is overrated.

  8. Both done something never done before and unlikely to be surpassed. So, I would say it's a tie. Bolt can claim to be the fastest man alive, Phelps can't be called the 'fastest' swimmer [ that would be the winner of the 50m freestyle ].

  9. Actually, I think both are impressive in their own right. Phelps had 17 swims over 8 (?) days, he won 8 gold medals with 7 coming in world record time.

Bolt has won 2 golds with 2 world records, but sprinting doesn't have 4 different disciplines in which Bolt could compete. But in the 100m, Bolt not only won with a world record, but he just did so while not even giving his best effort. And in the 200m, he blew away the rest of the field and bettered a mark that had stood for 16 years.

Both Phelps and Bolt were unbelievably impressive. I tip my hat to both and choose not to judge one as better than the other.

  10. Long like the King, Phelps. Your record doesn't' lie.
