Why should the Olympics be in a place where its unsafe to breathe? International athletes shouldn't have to be put through the fear of wondering weathering they'll get a repository disease while they're training.

  1. they all should wear gas masks, that surely will embarrass the chinese government.

  2. i feel sorry for the marathon runners..

but bejing 2008 he we come !

  3. Air-pollution is a global effect. There is no places safe.

In addition, the shadow of terrorism is demanding an iron country to protect the game. The first choice would be Israel but the war was suppressing that choice. China would be a good choice. The game would be safer than in Israel or in Britain or in Australia or in U.S.

  4. No one is forcing them to go....they are going for their own glory...and it's the same for all competitors...

I don't remember anyone raising these questions when the games were held in LA....and that isn't exactly a smog free zone is it?

  5. Think about the citizens who are forced to breathe that poison for the remainder of their sick and diseased lives.

In hind sight, the Olympics should not have been given to China.  The pollution is awful as you noted and many said this experience would lessen the human rights abuses as the world looked to this repressive country.  in fact most reports show more violations in spite of the global attention.

China sucks and US best athletes keep getting hurt in bizarre accidents.  I blame the Chinese and their Feung Shei.
