The Olympics in Beijing, should we stay or go?

"A group of American cyclists has apologized to Beijing Olympic organizers after arriving in China’s capital wearing face masks." Was the headline news for today. Why is China Government being so hard on us Americans, they denied a Visa to a Swimmer and now they are telling our people we cant wear face mask to protect or health, who thinks we should band the Olympics and ask to have it else where or just drop out and have our own and invite other countries? I think China is scared of loosing so they are trying every sneaky way to keep the USA from competing.

In my opinion, it is their personal choices to wear those face masks or not, and it doesn't really matter that much, but since it is China we are talking, it matters in every way. By doing so, you are basically dragging political issues along with it, insulting China in a difficult way.

Btw, I don't agree with you that China is scared of loosing, in fact, China is predicted to win the most medals (both overall and gold) during this Olympics. If they are so concerned, they should have denied the visa of Michael Phelps, who is expected to win 8 golds.

You are so ignorant and naive. The Chinese government isn't being hard on just Americans. Do you think the US is the center of the world? They've simply become more strict on visas to anyone in general because they want to be sure that the Olympics will be safe and secure for everyone involved. With someone as biased as you, no matter what China does, you will find some fault with something. They've spent so much time and effort to make sure everything is as perfect as they can make it, and all you can do is sit back and criticize. If you don't want to enjoy the events, then don't. Just don't come on here to ruin it for everyone else.

i come from singapore and i didn't even complain about the air quality when i myself visited china 2 weeks ago. in fact, i didn't find it that bad. your question is interesting . ' why is the chinese government being so hard on americans?' i think you have forgotten that the olypmics is an international event, and i'm also extremely curious to know WHY it was only the americans who arrived wearing face masks.
