The Order of Merit and South Korean go well with each other
Noh Seung-Yul says competing at the Asian Tour has sharpened his professional teeth.
With the Order of Merit title residing by his side, the teen prodigy, Noh is aiming to become the second Asian to win a Major. The first Asian to win a Major was Yang Yong-Eun who snatched the earlier stated title from the hands
of Tiger Woods at the PGA Championship in the year 2009.
The Korean golfer has slowly been claiming title after title and became the Order of Merit champion at the young-looking age of nineteen. To be exact, the golfer was 19 years and 204 years old when the title was handed out to him
due to his remarkable performance in the 2010 spell. Noh thus became the youngest Asian to display such an amazing form after grabbing one win and top 10 finishes counting to 4.
“It feels extremely nice to become the youngest ever number one in the Asian Tour” Noh said.
The nineteen year old made the earlier statement after the Sunday's awards gala and said that he is highly honoured for the time being and hopes that the future would bring more and more youngsters to win the Order of Merit. The
winner of the 2010 Maybank Malaysian Open had been unable to attend the award ceremony due to his counteractive laser eye treatment.
He said that the Asian Tour has helped him a lot in the process of attaining this title as it forces the golfer to test his skill at various location and different courses thus handing the player with a lot of experience. Noh further
added that the Tour also teaches the golfer to adapt to the changes in grass, food and travelling which increases his adaptability.
With the 2007 turned professional rising to the top and making it through the Q school, Noh grabbed a total of one European Tour victory and 2 Asian Tour victories for his records.
“You never know what the future holds, who knows, there could be younger players than 19 aiming for the Order of Merit” Noh said.
According to the golfer from South Korea, his current aim is to become the youngest player to grab a Major from Asia. He said that this isn’t a hurried decision in any way and with the amount of competition charging the greens
everyday he has planned a 5 year mission stretch to contend for the majors.
As for the Order of Merit, The golfer with 2 amateur victories said that this win has cleared his way for the British Open and will enable him to rise in the top-100 ranking in the world.
“The PGA Championship and the US Open are in the pipeline as well”
With the eventful 2010 coming to an end, Noh has high hopes for 2011 and is aiming to win at Europe and play at the US Tour with the top class golfers.
