The Ottawa Senators Can’t Bear the Heat from the Calgary Flames, losing by 5-2

Calgary Flames is all fired up, winning its second game in two days against Ottawa Senators in the sold-out Scotia Bank, Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, by 5-2.
It’s just something that makes you want to cry out with joy when you talk about the Flames not being able to make a playoff berth since October.
Flames has improved so much since then, moving up from the 14th position now to the 7th spot in the Western Conference.
Then again when you take a glance at Ottawa, you genuinely want to cry out tears of sadness and depression. Senators lost 5 consecutive games coming out of the All-Star Game break and are now 1-13-4 in their past 18 contests.
What went on?
Tim Jackman, who scored twice, a first for him this season, for Calgary, got one in the first 9 minutes, but Ottawa looked as if it was determined to win, scoring 2 goals within 1 minute of each other to take the lead to 2-1 at the end of the first 20 minutes.
The rookie goalie, Robin Lehner, of Ottawa Senators performed exceptionally well,  making 30 saves but that was not enough for the pumped up Calgary offense in the next 2 periods.
The only time Senators seemed dominant was when Chris Campoli shot the puck which bounced of a Calgary player and through Mikka Kiprusoff, the crowd suddenly went silent and the Senators loved it.
It was all Calgary down the road from there.
Olli Jokinen lighted up the buzzer during a power-play and then assisted one to Curtis Glencross to take the lead to 3-2 with 20 minutes remaining to play.
Anton Babchuk and Tim Jackman, both, had power-play opportunities and availed them securing the game with a little under 4 minutes left to go in the final.
Ottawa wasn’t able to do anything against Calgary Flames after the second.
Mikka Kiprusoff also played very well, but didn’t exactly feel like himself, making 24 out of 26 saves of which the 2 that went in were childish mishaps.
Robyn Regehr of Calgary Flames was playing his 800th NHL game this night and picked up a couple of assists to add to his already shining record.
Ottawa Senators is now showing signs of being out this season, while Calgary will face the thriving Anaheim Ducks again in Ducks’ hometown on Friday.
