The Pacific Classic Stakes 2011 – An event to remember for Acclamation
The Pacific Classic Stakes saw some exciting action of horseracing in 2011 with Acclamation winning the Group-1 event by a head distance. The American event, which was inaugurated in 1991, has seen some terrific battles over the years and the fans were entertained
last time around as well.
There were a total of nine runners attracted towards the $1 million Pacific Classic at Del Mar and Twirling Candy was rated as the favourite to win. He was in a very good position to take the top spot, but was surprised in the end.
Acclamation was also not taken for granted by the bookies, as he was given pretty decent odds back then. He displayed extremely good speed and stamina in the 1 mile 2 furlong event, winning it towards the final moments.
The Donald Warren’s trained horse entered the race from trap number five and did not press hard at the start. However, he started picking up speed towards the final furlong and just got his head in front at the end.
This was the fourth consecutive victory of Unusual Heat’s son and he went onto win more races afterwards. He has got a very good strike rate and has been performing consistently well since making debut in the sport.
Looking at the solid form of Acclamation, the bettors will definitely be encouraged to rate him as the favourite for the Pacific Classic Stakes this year. There have been a few other runners, who have managed to defend their title successfully in the mega
event and it will be interesting to see whether the last year’s winner does the same or not.
Acclamation’s trainer is also hopeful of a good result and he said, “We'll be looking at the Pacific Classic, just like last year. It will all come down to how we feel about the way the meet goes with the Polytrack. If it seems like it's kind to us, if it's
kind to the horses, that will play a big part in it.”
However, things will not be easy for the seasoned runner, as he will be up against some quality performers such as, Game On Dude. The five-year-old gelding has got a very good record and will be a force to reckon with at Del Mar.
