The Package gets best odds for winning the JLT Specialty Handicap Chase
David Pipe’s trained runner, The Package, has the best odds for winning JLT Specialty Handicap Chase Grade 3 at Cheltenham in England on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. The triumphant horse will be given a cash prize of £42,713.
A total of 19 runners will entertain the fans at Cheltenham in the race, which will start at 2:40 GMT. The entries confirmed for this event are: The Package, Hold On Julio, Quantitativeeasing, Our Mick, Tullamore Dew, Baile Anrai, Zarrafakt, Magnanimity,
Mossley, Fruity O´rooney, Noland, Alfie Sherrin, Pentiffic, Billie Magern, Bottman, Mount Oscar, Riguez Dancer, Mon Mome and Runshan.
The going is expected to be good and the runners will have to cover a distance of 3 miles 110 yards.
The Package does not have an impressive strike rate in chase races, but he is still considered to be one of the top contenders for victory. He has taken part in 11 of such events, winning just one. However, he has finished runner up on four occasions whereas
settled for third twice.
Despite getting decent odds for victory, the nine-year-old gelding might not be able to win the confidence of the punters, who will be hesitant in risking their money on him.
Timmy Murphy will be riding the race favourite, who has not been in good form over the past few months. However, the veteran jockey will be looking forward to using all his experience to win the race. He has won 119 chase races until now and is considered
to be one of the best in the business.
One horse, who has recently been in terrific form, is Quantitativeeasing. He is well aware of the conditions at Cheltenham, as he managed to win a race at this venue in December, 2011.
Nicky Henderson’s trainee has participated in seven chase races, winning three of them. Other than that, he has got a couple of runner up positions to his name as well, which suggests that he is quite capable of challenging the front runners.
Quantitativeeasing will be partnered by veteran, A. P. McCoy, who has had success in 313 chase races.
The punters will be interested in placing most of their bets on Hold On Julio, trained by Alan King. He has a 100 percent success rate in this form of racing, winning three out of three. He will definitely be the one to watch out for.
The nine-year-old gelding will be partnered by Robert Thornton, who has won 110 races while chasing.
Our Mick, Tullamore Dew, Baile Anrai and Zarrafakt might also manage to make a solid impression today, but there is no chance for the rest of the runners.
