Why are liberals so blown away by a politians 17 year old daughter getting pregnant?

Although it is a parents nightmare and wouldn't want this to happen to my daughter I find it inspiring that when put to the ultimate test Sarah Palin showed she believe in her conviction that you just don't kill a baby when it isn't convenient to have one. I would have been angry had she not practiced what she preached prior to this happening. Would the left been happier if she terminated the baby or are they just saying they're family's are more pure and this would never happen to their kids?

They always preach "woman's right to choose" - now that Palin's daughter is choosing to have her baby and marry, they won't support it.  ugghhhhh

I think after the dust settles and the gossips all crawl back into their holes, the decision the family made was definately in the best interest of all concerned.

After bill clinton and ted kennedy I think the left better just keep quiet, I am sure loads of you younger ones,may have not heard of the kennedy boys, and all the dirty happening they have done, including ted who let his girlfriend drown because she was pregnant, how awful is that, what a scum bag he is, and now he is paying for his sins!!

1. Liberals are not blown away by this story. Obama said this is "off limits." He even said that his mother had him at 18.

2. No, i don't think libs would be happy if Palin's daughter had an abortion. And no I don't think they think their families are more pure.

I think the worst thing that could come out of this is a potential forced marriage. Nobody should be forced into a politically charged marriage, or any marriage for that matter.

Well I think the liberal's argument is that they teach their children about birth control and all, so their teens won't get pregnant. whereas Palin teaches abstinence only, which is not working for teens in the US. And they are saying proof of that is that Palin's own child got pregnant on an abstinence only education.

Why does everyone look up to these s****s that have children at 16 and 17? It most certainly is NOT inspiring. It's sad and frankly shows just how uneducated the teenager in question is. My opinion (from the left) is that this shouldn't have happened in the first place. It's great that she didn't get an abortion... but the "right" is mostly made up of evangelical religious bible huggers. And these "Christian leaders" have decided to accept this behavior and praise Bristol. If that isn't hypocrisy, I don't know what is. They preach about abstinence and then support Bristol? Give me a break.

I'm blown away by the fact that everyone is saying she'll have such a hard time raising this baby and blah blah blah. Face it, she'll have just as hard a time as Jamie-Lynn Spears. And when I say hard time, I mean easy as pie. They have their mothers, they have nannies... Everyone knows just as well as I do that teens in worse situations without help will have a h**l of a lot harder time than Bristol. The Palin's get absolutely zero of my sympathy. Instead, they get all of my contempt.

This situation is a damned if you do damned if you don't situation.  However, most of us "normal" Americans have imperfect families (and have been imperfect ourselves).  Some have had loving supportive families during the hard times, some have not.  However, most people with a heart appreciate seeing supportive families during troubling times in a family's life.  That is why this controversy will not be a deciding factor for the negative for most.

Actually, the decision not to terminate was her daughter's decision.  Palin supported her.  I think it shows that, despite the fact that kids make mistakes, they are a strong family with relatively consistent values.

I have a 13 year old daughter and shoot an 11 year old son, and as I read all the hate, judgement and silliness on here and in the news. One word comes to mind Karma.

I am not as close to my daughter as when she was little, and God knows I have caught her doing the exact opposite as I and her father have told her. Teen years aren't easy and no one is perfect. And the last thing I want is being told by the general public what to with my kids, this is America....butt out.

I don't judge Gov. Palin or her husband.

Just glad the child wasn't aborted.

They're not blown away by it.  It's a completely calculated attack.  If it would have been Chelsea Clinton who was pregnant and the Repubs went on the offensive, there would have been indignant outrage and all about respecting the privacy of the family.  Her pregnancy would have been treated like Jamie Lynn Spears and she would have been applauded.

I am glad that Biden took a stand about attacking the children of the candidates.  

ETA: And BTW, I missed the part where we know for sure that Miss Palin didn't use birth control.  How do we know it wasn't birth control failure and her pregnancy is a failure of the safe s*x education?  Do we know whether her school had an abstainance only program or not?

Agreed. LIbs are the ones who want to give away free abotions to underage girls without parental notification.....cuz a 13 yr old has a "choice"...and is sure to make the correct one.

You can teach and teach, but everyone has moments of blinding stupidity...like Bristol,...and now she pays the price. As should we all.

I could care less about the pregnancy.

However I DO care that someone preaches abstinence in their own household but their child becomes pregnant anyway.

It's hard for me to respect someone that doesn't follow their own rules.
