  1. Desperation.

  2. They were releasing some pent-up frustration at the end of game two, understandably so. They are normally one of the cleaner teams in hockey. Even their enforcers display more etiquette than most. Let's just see what happens in game three on their home ice.

  3. you're not wrong.  the penguins seem clearly outmatched and are frustrated to the point of playing plain sloppy hockey.  however, i wouldn't read into the fuss that all of the hockey analyst are making about it.  its just another way to try to market the sport.  sure roberts took a cheap shot at a concussion-recovering franzen, but franzen will be the first to admit that he's got to do a better job at protecting himself in the open ice (particularly coming off of an injury).  In hockey coming back from an injury like is like painting a target on your head---especially for a playoff giant like franzen.  scrapes like that happen atleast five times a game, its just that they're usually away from the play.  there should have been a call, its in the rule book, its a penalty.  but  no calls are part of the game, especially in the finals.

    as for osgood....

he simply needs to stop floppin.

he's taken unnecessary dives twice now this playoffs and its making him look weak.  Ribeiro's slash in the Dallas series  would have never even made him flinch with his chest protection.  that thing is made to withstand 100 mph slapshots....and last games flop....seriously embarrassing if you ask me.  two shutouts in a row though...in the finals...conn smythe anyone?

as for the series.  i wouldn't be expecting any stanley cup parades in pitt this year.  the wings haven't taken it out of gear since the first puck dropped.  and they're seemingly playing on a whole different plateau then the penguins.  its veteran playoff players vs. new up-and-comers on the ice and it looks like it.  detroit's dominant physical play is the perfect kryptonite for the penguins wheels.  they've completely taken control of the puck and are dominating the time on attack.  fluery is doing great, but cannot quite hold up against the constant bombardment of detroit's firepower.  if the pens squeak a win, its going to be because fluery stands on his head and nothing more.  its been my prediction from the start that the penguins would pull one off in pittsburgh for a split and the wings would take the cup at home in game five...but after seeing the last two games, i would say sweep.

pittsburgh is definitely the team of the future though.  it won't be long until crosby and malken have there name engraved in the thing.

  4. Frustration

  5. its because they were loosing and getting frustrated but the other thing that bothers me is how pen's fans in this section are whining about calls and non calls when they called anyone who said one thing about a call in others series whiners and complainers and saying that people were sore losers and told them to get over it. well now i just wanna say the same thing to them

  6. Yeah you are wrong because they BUMPED Osgood and he EMBELLISHED the fall(that's called DIVING by definition). If you don't believe me watch the replay they showed from behind the net. Notice how he sat then looked to make sure the ref that was RIGHT THERE looked at him. He knew what he was doing. As to playing dirty I think you are exaggerating how dirty they were. Yeah Roberts took a cheap shot. Oh and watching the Red Wings get a penalty for putting a leg out to trip Malkin, sounds kinda dirty. Yeah most of it was FRUSTRATION, not desperation. They couldn't score and Detroit was outplaying them. They just got upset and started playing stupid. They knew they were out of the game though, it wasn't like they had any chance left in the game with most of it.

  7. They've always been like that, especially with Philadelphia.  Plus, you have to take into account that they've lost both of the games against Detroit, scoring 0 points so far.

  8. I'm Just wondering why the Pens Never Dirty are whining of cheating and taking shot and going after Ozzie?

i didn't understand a word you said there.. but from what i can get out of it, all i can say is: Roberts isn't the first person to take a shot at a guy who was just recently injured.. he did it, get over it.

  9. they are frusterated plus desprete, they are so use to having their own way I mean they lead every series in each round and they never lost more than 1 game each round so now they are 2 down and wondering what happened they are going to try anything to gain momentum.

  10. Whether or not Ozzie dived, the Pens are frustrated.  They are in their first Finals since 92 when their owner was playing, the city is in a frenzy, and they have a very very young (he's my age for crying out loud!) captain.  And as any team does (I seem to remember one playoff game a few years ago where the Wings of all teams got frustrated and starting to commit cheap penalty after cheap penatly for one period...it was scary), they play dirty.

Now as for hitting Franzen in the head multiple multiple times in Game 2 after he just came back from having concussion like symptoms and headaches...that's cheap.  And Pens fans don't say they didn't do that.  Just watch Game 2.  Every time Franzen was on the ice he got deliberately hit in the head.  He got elbows in the head.  That is not a common hockey move.

  11. Come on people.. get over yourselves.

The Penguins are no more dirty than any other team in the league. Look at the Ducks, Senators, Leafs, Flyers, Rangers,

Predators, Canucks, Hurricanes; to name just a few.

The Pens are only dirty to those teams who can't stand losing to them. (Flyers and Rangers fans especially) Talk about a dirty team. Since the Flyers had Hextal they wrote the book on dirty hockey.

Just like you whiners who cannot stand the Devils. You whine about the trap, even though the Red Wings have been using the trap in this entire playoffs.

If it's not a team you like, you will find something to complain about.

  12. A combination of desperation & frustration.  They came in thinking they were going to walk all over the "old guys" of Detroit.  They were quickly showed otherwise.

  13. They've never had this much on the line and this much to lose before.   In desperate times, players get desperate and when that doesn't work, they turn into babies and start getting aggressive.

  14. i wouldnt say never but they are just losing control of their temper becuase they are losing IE frustration they made short work of the sens, rags and flyers that they arent used to losing and having  a real fight during the playoffs

  15. you are right. theyre frustrated that theyre getting just plane beat.

  16. They are young, they have never been in fight for the cup before they are feeling the pressure!

  17. Yeah, a couple of cheap shots out of an extremely frustrated and very YOUNG team. the trouble is they are trying to play beat 'em up hockey against the team that perfected it back in the 90's. Roberts took a cheap shot at Franzen, and if my boys run true to form, he'll spend the next couple games getting his a$$ kicked for it, but I agree with the post above, Franzen HAS to do a better job of protecting his head. I really dont think the pens are doing much the wings havent. (dont beat me up, fellow wings fans, just stating facts, i've been watching these guys for 20 years.)

  18. A pens fan has emerged, after leading 1-0
