I'm looking forward to witnessing this years Perseid Meteor shower, and I understand its at its strongest the early mornings of the 12th and 13th of August -

But what kind of time should i watch the sky for best results and what way should i look towards, can anybody give me a constelation to go by, or are they just anywhere? haha (Im in the East of England, UK by the way)

Thanks - anybody else planning to witness!?

=)

  1. all the dates peaks are here.http://meteorshowersonline.com/august_ra...

i saw some last night around 1 : 43 am .. no kidding either!

    They say 2:00 am

  3. The date is correct.  Perseids are active from July 17 to August 24, with the peak around August 12.

As the name suggests, you should look toward the constellation of Perseus.  Meteor showers derive their name from the constellation from which the meteors appear to originate (but this is only a visual characteristics, the actual meteors have nothing to do with the stars that comprise the constellation).
