  1. You're probably referring to Thomas Jefferson, who created a version of the New Testament highlighting Jesus as a philosopher, but leaving out the supernatural or miraculous. The book  The actual title is The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth Extracted Textually from the Gospels. He does not use the word "Christ," then he left out one of the central events of Christianity, the Resurrection? was later edited and revised around 1816 or so, but it was never published in his lifetime,as it was intended for his personal use, and copies for a few friends. "The Jefferson Bible" was finally published in the early 1900's.
