The Pier gets the best odds for bet365 Handicap Hurdle
The Pier has won the best odds for the bet365 Handicap Hurdle at Sandown in England on Saturday, April 28, 2012. The winner of the class-2 race will get a cash prize of £15,640 in the end.
The going will be soft in the 2 mile, 3 furlong and 110 yard event, which is scheduled to start at 14:00 GMT. A total of 17 runners have been confirmed for the race and their names are as follows: Tour D´argent, Cedre Bleu, Gibb River, Top Smart, Big Easy,
Sircozy, Star Of Angels, Bar De Ligne, The Pier, Act Of Kalanisi, Bourne, Hellfire Club, Art Professor, Monetary Fund, Arab League, Harry Hunt and Headly´s Bridge.
According to the bookies, The Pier will manage to walk away with a victory in the race, as he has a good record in races over hurdles. However, his recent form has not been good, thus the punters might be discouraged to risk money in his favour.
The six-year-old gelding has participated in seven hurdles until now, winning just one of them. His strike rate is not impressive at all, but he has the ability to fight for top positions, as he has secured a runner up and third place finish each in his
career.
In his most recent race, the David Pipe’s trainee was unable to deliver a great result, as he ended up sixth overall. He was not rated as favourite to win, as there were some quality runners taking part in that event.
Despite that, the sixth place finish was not a bad result at all and there are chances that The Pier will finish on top of the table today. He will be partnered by C. O'Farrell, who has won 34 races over hurdles at a decent strike rate. His recent form has
been pretty much impressive, thus he will attract a lot of bets in his favour.
On the other hand, the bettors might risk maximum number of bets in favour of Tour D´argent, who is a fierce competitor. He has entered four hurdles until now, winning a couple of them and finishing runner up on the same number of times.
Although the bookies have favoured The Pier for this race, Tour D´argent will definitely be the one to watch out for in the end.
