The Players Championship: Tiger Woods makes another bad finish on the PGA Tour – Golf News
Tiger Woods recorded another poor finish on the PGA Tour, as he recorded a one-over par 73 in the final round of the Players Championship at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course to tie for the 40th place on Sunday, May 13, 2012.
Woods got off to a slow start in the opening round of the tournament when he recorded a two–over par 74.
That was a time when he was on the verge of missing the cut for the second consecutive time on the PGA Tour.
However, an improved performance of a four-under par 68 saved him from missing the cut and he went on playing the event on the last two days.
While entering the final round, he was no way near the leader, Kevin Na, as he had a three-round score of two-under par.
The final round witnessed him make a sluggish start and he carded a bogey on the first hole he played. He made a birdie on the very next hole to offset his previous-hole score.
Thereafter, he did not manage to keep control over his game and started making some poor shots on the course.
He recorded a double bogey on the par-four fourth hole followed by two bogeys on the sixth and eighth holes.
Through 11 holes, he was four over for the round and managed to shoot three birdies afterwards that helped him keep his score near to par.
“Back nine was good. Front nine, not so good,” Woods said. “I didn't really hit any bad shots, and all of a sudden, I had a bogey, a birdie and a double. We were looking back on it, and didn't hit any bad shots and here you are at 2 over for the day. Just
one of those deals”.
Woods now believe that he needs to work extra hard to bring some improvements in his game.
“Just keep working. Keep working. I felt that I did it well in spurts again. Just need to be a little bit more consistent, and as I said earlier in the week, just got to play the par 5s better than I did. That's something I didn't do. I had a lot of irons
into the par 5s and didn't take care of them,” he said.
