The Players Championship hits June 30, what to expect from the darts giants?
After the German Darts Championship showdown, the Players Championship hits the world of darts on June 30 and July 1.
The German Darts Championship witnessed the best in the world of darts, depicting talent, charisma and technique at its best.
Plenty of surprises followed up the European event held in Berlin, Germany.
Dave Chisnall managed to sneak in the final against Phil “The Power” Taylor but failed to overpower the power of darts. Although he lost, yet, gave a memorable battle in Berlin.
With “Chizzy” performing exceptionally well at the German Darts Championship, he has finally entered the world top-16.
This has given him the right amount of boost the Englishman required for the Players Championship and the World Matchplay.
On the other hand, “The Power” continues global dominance with his first ever European circuit win in Berlin, where he knocked out Chisnall fair and square. Taylor has proved that he is the greatest dart thrower on the planet for a reason.
Adrian Lewis is a name that has been over shadowed by newcomers. It is observed that local headlines are talking about the UK Open winner Robert Thornton, German Darts Championship winner Phil Taylor and the Australian wizard Simon Whitlock, but no one has
been vocal about “The Jackpot”.
There is a valid reason behind his disappearance, his poor form. Lewis has been in bad shape for quite a while now and it seems like there is no end to this misery.
His twitter page gave fans the idea of how “The Jackpot” feels these days and it was evident that he is not feeling good about how the media and the fans have treated him.
“I thought, ‘Am I that bad?’ I feel like the Joey Barton of darts. And why do people support the foreign players? It’s like me wanting Spain to win the Euros - what a joke. It’s true – me and (Phil) Taylor laugh about it along with all the other UK players.
I don’t understand it – they should support their own country,” said Lewis on his twitter page.
Well, Lewis and his problems have nothing to do with his game and he should focus on his darts rather than being too sensitive about the media.
The Players Championship is another doorstep to achieve greatness. Some might become great and some might end up as losers, but one thing is for certain, it will be entertaining.
