The Power makes way to the top yet again
The Power of darts, Phil Taylor, regardless of the disappointing performance he delivered in the recently held Ladbrokes Darts Championship, triumphed to grab the PDC Player of the Year Award.
The grand ceremony held in Dorchester of London's Park Lane nominated Taylor after he won five major titles, namely, the World Matchplay, European Championship, World Grand Prix, Championship League Darts and Grand Slam of Darts.
While commenting on the success, Taylor was as usual delighted. He said, "We’ve seen Adrian Lewis, James Wade and Gary Anderson all win majors and other players emerging too, so to be voted for as Player of the Year and Fans' Player of the Year is a massive honour. It will spur me on to try even harder in 2012".
Next in line to Taylor were players like Gary Anderson and Justin Pipe but in an internet poll Taylor was able to outclass all his opponents in terms of popularity.
Apart from this, reigning champion Adrian Lewis was awarded with the best Televised Performance of the Year for his nail biting encounter in the second semi-final against James Wade.
In addition to this, there were a couple of players who made their first appearances in the ceremony.
These included players like Dave Chisnall, who went back home with the award of the best new comer.
It is important to mention here that Chisnall, in his very first encounter with Taylor, was able to knock out the Power from the darts championship this year.
On the other hand, another darts player who made his mark and gained recognition in the awards ceremony was Justin Pipe.
With the help of three PDC Pro Tour Titles, he was finally able to clinch the PDPA Players’ Player of the Year Award. "I've had a brilliant year and this caps it off for me," said Pipe.
He also added that being recognised and acknowledged for the performance he delivered throughout the year provided him with the confidence of investing greater dedication and devotion to his game play.
The award ceremony concluded leaving many players ecstatic about the recognition they received for their performances. It induced a stronger sense of determination and enthusiasm for the year ahead.
