The Prix de I’Abbaye on the roll up with global competition!!

Ever since 2009 the Prix de I’Abbaye has become part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge series which qualifies the winner to contest for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint which ranks as the best in the world.
It would be a welcoming competition from different ends of the world where Moonlight Cloud, Marchand d’Or and Wizz Kid will be representing France and with another team up of Deacon Blues, Prohibit and Margot Did, with Ireland being represented by Requinto
and Sole Power completing the lineup.
Moonlight Cloud has run five times this season, winning three out of the count. Twice it was with Thierry Jarnet, once being with Davy Bonilla. The eight-year-old French Marchand D’Or has raced four times this season, each time with Davy Bonilla with winning
just the one and that also the most recent one on 28th August.
The three-year-old Irish Wizz Kid has raced with Christophe Soumillon once and twice with Ioritz Mendizabal and won the Chantilly with him on 5th June. Deacon Blues is a four year old with five races this year out of which he won four, twice with
Frankie Dettori and then yet again two with J Murtagh. Prohibit has been racing a lot this season gaining three wins, two of which were with Jim Crowley and one with  Christophe Soumillon. The horse has won the last race on 11th September at the
Longchamp.
Margot Did has been quite very busy this season with filling his record with wins, raced six times and ended up winning the good half of them. The very last one that he ran and won was at the York with Hayley Turner against Tim Easterby’s Hamish McGonagall
who was the runner up.
Perhaps the youngest contestant for the race is the two-year-old Irish, Requinto who has been ridden seven times this season and has won four times. Like most of the other entries his last race was a victory too, he won the Doncaster on 9th Septmeber
with Ed Dunlop’s Burwaaz second.
Edward Lynam’s Sole Power has contested seven times this season with winning only once, his last race was on 3rd September at the Haydock.
This race would be worth waiting and watching as it is talent packed from champions and all time greats from around the world.
