Nottingham Produce Stakes preview: heats one and two
The second round of the 2010 Nottingham Produce Stakes are set to go this Friday. The semi-final races will happen on 8 October, and the £15,000 final on 13 October.
The 2010 Nottingham Produce Stakes - Second Round - Heat 1
Flog the Speaker will race from trap one. Last week he slipped into the second round with a fourth place finish, and has done little to show that he’ll advance beyond the second round.
In trap two will be Shes The Star, who took second place in her heat, 6¾ lengths behind Micky Robbie. She’s won six of her past nine and is a good bet to finish in the top three.
Telmarcs Swift has only won one race in his past 10, and finished 6¼ lengths behind Mill Jaguar last week. He’ll race from trap three.
Miles Better hasn’t won a race since 29 June, and will have to be better than that to make it all the way to the final, but there is a good chance he’ll find a way to make it to the semi-final next week. He drew trap four.
In trap five is Fabulous Passage, who lost his first round heat to Ucangobut but only a head. She almost has as many last place finishes as first place finishes, but she could find herself in one of the top spots in this race.
The sixth trap will see Rock It Luanchlo try to improve upon his fourth place finish in the first round. She’s been racing in A2 races since August, and has what it takes to win this race, but she’ll have to improve upon last week’s effort to do so.
The 2010 Nottingham Produce Stakes - Second Round - Heat 2
Lover Man will race from trap one. Usually racing in A7 and A8 races, there’s a good chance you will not see him in the semi-finals.
In trap two is Megahon Toots, a common winner. He won last week despite getting off to a terrible start. He should have little trouble advancing to the final, and stands a good chance of winning this heat.
Telmarcs Hondo will race from the third trap for the first time since 8 July. He finished fourth last week, and will likely not improve on that considering the competition in this heat.
In trap four is Vatican Seamus, who won his heat last week by 3¾ lengths over Gert Lush. He’s won five of his past seven, but he’ll have a difficult time winning against Toots and Boys Of Winter in this heat. Still, a top three finish is not out of the question.
Rock It Diva gets another chance to beat Winter after losing last week’s heat by 1¼ lengths to the frosty racer. Diva has competed in A1 races recently, but she also finished in last place in every one. She’ll go from trap five.
In the sixth trap is the slow starting, but strong finishing, Boys of Winter. His early position is rarely better than sixth, but his final position is almost always in the top three. A good start will almost guarantee him a win, a poor start makes the win
only very likely.
