Nottingham Produce Stakes preview: heats three and four
The Produce Stakes continue at Nottingham on Friday with four second round heats. The semi-finals will be on 8 October, and the £15,000 final on 13 October.
The 2010 Nottingham Produce Stakes - Second Round - Heat 3
In the first trap is Madeley, an experienced A3 racer. He finished third last week, and should be able to place in the top three again in this race.
Micky Robbie, in the second trap, is one of the strongest hounds in the Produce Stakes. He won his first round heat by 6 ¾ lengths over Shes The Star, and will probably win this heat by a similar margin. He’s also won 9 of his last 10 races.
Odell Knight is usually in the top three, and it should be interesting to see if he can reach that level in this heat. If the odds are long, Knight could be a good longshot bet. He’ll race from trap three.
In trap four is Rainman Reg, who had no trouble winning his first round heat last week. He’s also finished in the top three in his last eight races. A second place finish could be in the cards this week with Robbie in the heat.
Trap five’s Fabulous Path finished in third last week, but could be outclassed in this heat. A third place finish is not out of the question, but it’s not the most likely of scenarios.
In trap six is Rock It Elite, who finished second in his heat last week. Elite has raced against Robbie before, and did not do well against him. He’s a risky bet, and will probably fail to qualify for the semi-finals.
The 2010 Nottingham Produce Stakes - Second Round - Heat 4
The first trap of the final heat will see Kilmurvy Romance take another stab at beating Mill Jaguar after losing to him by 5¾ lengths last week. No one is expecting him to be successful.
The young Fabulous Promise will start from trap two. Last week she got off to a horrible start, but showed her guff by moving from last to second place. She has one win in 12 races, and will be happy with an appearance in the semi-finals.
Eye Catcher will look to catch some eye as she comes from the third trap. It’s a difficult group to do well against, but she has a recent A2 victory that could inspire confidence in some punters.
Saint Jack tends to do better than the odds say she should, but it’s unlikely she’ll win this race after losing twice to Mill Jaguar in August. Still, a top three finish could very well happen.
In trap number five is Rock It Ronan. He’s been racing in A1 races for awhile. He doesn’t win them very often, although he did win his last one.
The sixth trap will see trainer Charlie Lister’s hound, Mill Jaguar, go for his second win in two races. He won last week by 5¾ lengths over Kilmurvy Romance with his slowest time career time over 500 metres.
