Question:

The Puerto Rico Primary: Obama or Clinton?

There seems to be an assumption that when Puerto Rico votes in June, they will vote inline with Hispanics in the US, giving Clinton a substantial victory. I think this is a wrong assumption to make that Hispanics in PR are the same as those in the mainland...so I wanted to get the perspective of Puerto Ricans.

Who seems to have an advantage down there, Obama or Clinton?

  1. Osama

  2. same story every year, that PR is going to have the privilege to vote for a US President, and it never happens. I dont think that's even legal until PR is still a common wealth. most people over here in PR say that they prefer Clinton, because obama may be a "masked terrorist" who its working himself up to president and then explode US, how funny can my peeps be, right! lol. anyways and about the present governor its all lies and political myths to put him down, so people wont vote for him this year. they haven't prove anything illegal against him, its all about reallybad gossip and horrible political issues

  3. Puerto Ricans living here will vote thinking on what the candidate proposed to do with PR status.  That will be the main issue deciding how we will vote, not their positions about the war, health reforms, economics, race vs s*x, etc.

Polithical leaders has been announcing their preferences.  Some polithicians favoring statehood for PR like Pedro Rosello and Kenneth McClintock are supporting Hillary Clinton.  Those favoring current commonweath status are divided between Obama (Anibal Acevedo Vila, Victoria Muñoz) and Hillary (Roberto Pratts Democrat Party local president).  People will tend to follow the preferences of their leaders.

However, I think there are more comonwealth supporters in the Democrat Party than statehood supporters; so Hillary does not have a clear advantage.  I see the primary close, but with Obama winning.

  4. I am Hispanic myself, I believe the people would be smart enough to vote for a republican candidate considering how poor both the democratic choices are. the Clinton's are proven liars, and Obama is non-patriotic. Do the right thing vote Republican.
