  1. She part of history. Shes an icon.

  2. it is a matter of tradition

  3. I'm Canadian and she's my Queen, too, and I've always been very proud.  Sort of the way Americans think of George Washington or the Kenndys.

  4. she is too the queen of England, it's a monarchy, she is the ruler of the British empire, that makes her the queen.

  5. Where would get the idea that is not really the Queen of England? Who else is? She's been Queen for 55 years!

Why is she honoured? Part tradition. Part because she is the living embodiment of the state and therefore the people, so in honouring her, we honour ourselves. And we honour her because she has worked long and hard for the benefit of the UK and the Commonwealth.

  6. You know, i've been wondering the same thing as well. I think it's merely because she has the title "queen", but what does she actually do??

The uk is a constitional monarchy meaning that she has no power in running the country anyway, so why does the uk still have a monarchy?? And i think the uk is represented more by the prime minister NOT the queen so people can't be saying, she represents the state blah blah blah... we've heard it all before.. SHE DOES NOTHING!

the royal family in the uk right now are more in the aristocracy level than royalty.

  7. YEAH CANADA!!!!!!!!!!! you tell um.

    signed your yankie friend.

  8. She's the Queen of the United Kingdom NOT just England, that's one of four countries in the UK. They're not just a rich family, they're all very distantly descended from our very first King (I mean very, some tedious links). We have a constitutional monarchy - our monarch has no real power in running the country, she is just a figurehead who isn't elected, which most of us prefer to having a President and she makes a good job of it too. She's honoured so much because she represents us very well and still does a lot for an 81 year-old. Can you say that about your President?

  9. She is the head of state and as such she is entitled to respect. She is the real Queen due to the set up of the constitutional  monarchy in Great Britain.

She is not self appointed she is crowned by the archbishop of Canterbury and also the head of the Church of England as a result. The royal family as it now exists (the Windsors) was invited to takeover the the monarchy by parliament when the line of Stuart died out with Queen Anne in 17 something.

What is so special about a constitutional monarchy is that the monarch (Queen or King) is that though she is human and has her own opinions she is not allowed to voice them. Hers is the voice of the government. Thus she lives effectively in a golden cage. She does not have a lot of freedom and as for power she has very little.

However by being the head of state and being a monarch  she is the figurehead that represents the country. Behind her banners people unite As she has no political colour and opinion (that we know of) she unites her people in times of trouble. People fight for their country and queen.

A president divides due to their political colour and being voted in. They will never be able to unite a people the way a monarch can.

    edited after you last comment:

Canada is part of the commonwealth and as such your head of state is Queen Elizabeth II. When Canada became independent it effectively elected t remain under the crown That is a vote of sorts for the queen.

She is represented in Canada by a Governor- General. The Governor General (as in the queen) effectively appoints the prime minister after elections to form a government. This is the essence of a constitutional monarchy

Canadian people have the power to change to a presidency and there have been movements to do so Thus for the Canadian people have elected through parliament not to change the current status and in a sense the monarchy has the vote of the people.

Canada is free to leave the commonwealth if it chooses.

It would be helpful if instead of telling people they are idiots to study the structure of your government prior to making these types of accusations Clearly you do not fully understand the workings of your own political structures and history of independence.

  10. This ? is TREASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. I suggest you read a history book on Britain, assuming you can read.

  12. She's kept in power by the British establishment and aristocracy and is utterly ruthless according to some when it comes to threats to the monarchy. She's a human woman born in 1926 and she will die sometime like any normal person, no doctor has yet reported that she or any of her relatives have bled blue blood and unfortunately betraying her is treason which I wouldn't do, but at least you can still slag them off on the Internet.

  13. If you ask me, the queen is just a fat lazy old woman who has been living off the public's taxes since day one.

I mean, all she ever does is wave at people wearing white or black gloves.  So your right, there's nothing special about her or her inbred family either.  And she spends all the money buying tea and feeding her dogs.
