when i was young...this is what i heard and it makes sense.....there are people who rightfully say the name comes from...... the back ' beat' of the drum...... being part of 'beat' in the name beatles....but......i heard it explained this way, back in 1964.....the beatles came up with their name because they idolized/ loved/ covered songs by... buddy holly and the CRICKETS........hence, someone said hey!!!!......how about being the BEETLES...and that insect spelling .thus ...... changed to.........the,,,,BEATLES.. and the.... back "beat" explaination.....became the reason for the name..........but it was in first place.... homage to the CRICKETS.//////// so now you all know the real truth behind the wierd name of the most acclaimed band that ever has been,,, or ever will be............... RIGHT???

  1. Of course, John puts it: "It came in a vision- a man appeared on a flaming pie and said unto them, 'From this day on you are Beatles with an 'A' -- 'Thankyou you, Mister Man,' they said, thanking him."

    ~John Lennon

  2. ya

  3. I've always heard that it was an homage to the Crickets and "beat" was because they were musicians.

  4. That explanation is correct, but they went though a few names.  First they were the Quarrymen.  Then John Lennon and the Silver Beatles.

  5. thy were first called the silver beatles

  6. A bit right.

  7. I seem to remember hearing something like that too. I have the anthology series and heard something like that. Not too sure though. Makes sense, and interesting bit of trivia.
