Physically how close do they allow you to get to the scrolls? Is the Isaiah scroll on display now? Do they allow non-flash photography? Did you enjoy the exhibit?

  1. In our town, it was close enough (within 5 inches looking down) that you could read everything there was to read.

It was close enough that I was able to very easily pick out the tetragrammaton (Jehovah's name in Hebrew) several times in the open scroll. Actual scrolls were under glass in cases.

The actual piece (s) of the Dead Scrolls were small and had to have display boards next to them to "see" what was written on them.

There were pages of the Gutenberg Bible and early "missionary" Bibles used with American Indians (Native Americans).

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, this was truly an exhibit that was of interest. I took Bible students with me to the exhibit and felt they benefited in seeing for themselves the efforts over centuries to translate and make available the Bible to all - rather than me just tell them about it.

It takes a good hour and a half to see and appreciate everything. If I remember, photography was not permitted. But there were displays of books and materials at the end to allow you to obtain copies of info that you would like to have.

  2. REEEEEAAAAAAAAALLLLL close.
