The Reaper all set to crush competition in the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes
The Reaper, under the training of Ger Lyons, may compete at Curragh in the Group 3 Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes, which is scheduled to take place on 26th May, 2012.
Ger Lyons is pleased with his form, and expected that the four-year-old will claim a decent position in this race.
The son of Footstepsinthesand, out of mare Lady Gregory, stood third at Meydan, where he competed in the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise on 26th
January, 2012, and missed the victory by 4 lengths to, Krypton Factor.
Following that race, the bay gelding triumphed in the Cork Stakes, where he was under the command of jockey, J. Murtagh, and together they claimed the victory by a margin of a short-head against, Experience, on 7th April, 2012.
The trainer is confident that his runner will perform well on this track, the surface of which has been labelled good, as he told the press that:
"He's an intended runner, subject to the ground being suitable. He needs it fast."
He further added that:
"He's a very consistent horse. He went to Dubai and that made a man of him.
"Unfortunately because he needs fast ground and we rarely get it, I think we'll have to do a bit of travelling with him this season. We wanted to run him in the Duke of York but the ground was too soft.
"In Naas last time out we ran him just to make sure he wouldn't act with any cut in it and he hated it.”
Lyons stated that the Sean Jones owned runner will not compete in the Irish sprinters,  but is likely to do well on the six furlong track, where he has a huge chance of winning.
Definightly, who is trained by Roger Charlton for owners, S. Emmet And Miss R. Emmet, will not be running in this race, as the ground is not soft enough, something he is well accustomed to.
The six-year-old bay and brown gelding recently competed in the Group 3 Pearl Bloodstock Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on 5th May, 2012, where he finished as a runner-up and ended up ¾ of a length behind the winner, Mayson.
