The Red Bull Racing continues on with the battle of words… (Part 3)
The Red Bull Racing’s in-team rivalry goes further on. After the exchange of words between the team driver, Mark Webber and the team boss Christian Horner, the other team driver Sebastian Vettel has also jumped into the word game.
While talking to the media he completely set aside all the charges of his teammate, Mark Webber proclaiming that both the team drivers have always been equally supported by the team. He nullified all accusations saying that he has never received any advantages
over the other team driver.
While talking to the media earlier today, Webber proclaimed that the team has given both the drivers the same machinery and equipments yet the ‘emotional backing’ is more for Vettel as compared to him. The statement was taken very surprisingly by the Red
Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner, who insisted that neither the team nor he has ever distinguished between the two drivers. He further told that all the achievements of Weber, this season, including his four race wins and the occupation of the
top place of the Drivers’ Championship for most part of the season is merely because the team let him do this. He said that the team has not only encouraged both the drivers always but has also helped and supported them equally.
Moreover, the other team driver, Vettel also commented on Webber’s statement saying that, “Everyone has his own opinion, but for me we both have the same chance every weekend to do well. The team supplies us with a very good car and that's ultimately the
situation that you want to be in – having a car where you can win races and fight for podiums.”
He further continued telling that he believes that Webber has actually enjoyed more advantages from the team, as compared to him as he has met hard luck many times all through the year. The German pointed several incidents where he suffered from mechanical
problems this season. The worst of all was the incident of the last month at the Korean Grand Prix, where his engine failed right at the moment when he was heading for a certain race win. Similarly, earlier this year at the Turkish Grand Prix when the two
team drivers crashed into each other, while they were heading for a 1-2 finish, Webber was still able to end at third place while Vettel’s day ended up after the race.
“I think I had lots of ups and downs this year – statistically, if something broke, then it tended to break on my car. But do I think there is any conspiracy in the air? No, it's the last thing I think about. I always think there is a reason why things happen,”
the young driver said.
He further insisted that he is not in the favour of getting engaged in a verbal match with his teammate. Vettel also stated that he is not sure if Webber actually meant to say this or he was just misinterpreted or misunderstood. Nevertheless, he does not
want to be bothered with all this at this stage of the season.
“I am who I am, and I always say what I think. Sometimes I might hold back my opinion a little bit because I think it’s the smarter way. I’m the last guy who goes into conflict when it’s not necessary – so that’s it,” the Red Bull racer very clearly stated.
Vettel currently stands at 4th place in the Drivers’ Championship and has a total of 206 points under his belt. The poor engine failure at the last race, have although dimmed the chances of his first victory, yet the driver as well as the team
is adamant to keep on striving until the end of the rope.
There are only two more races to go and 50 points to battle out for. With this situation, the difference of 25 points from the charts’ leader, Fernando Alonso although does not seem impossible, yet it is a tough title to compete for.
