The Red Laird gets the best odds for Yorkshire-Outdoors.co.uk Handicap Hurdle

The Red Laird has the best odds for winning the Yorkshire-Outdoors.co.uk Handicap Hurdle at Catterick in England on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. The cash prize of winning the class-4 event is £2,599.
A total of nine runners will battle out for victory today and their names are: Realmont, The Red Laird, Howizee, Azulada Bay, Carmela Maria, Ballymacduff, Winged Farasi, Moon Melody and Finbar Flynn.
Out of all these runners, The Red Laird has the best chances of winning, considering his current form and fitness. He has already taken part in nine hurdles so far, winning just one of them.
Other than that, the favourite horse has managed to take one runner up and third place finish each. His last race over hurdles proved to be a decent one, as he ended up second, after having entered with a starting price of 13 to 2.
The punters will definitely be aware of this result, thus they will be encouraged to invest some money on today’s favourite runner.
The nine-year-old gelding, trained by Neil King, will be partnered by Alex Merriam, jockey who needs to improve his strike rate in all forms of racing.
Carmela Maria, trained by Mike Sowersby, is another runner who is expected to perform well at Catterick today. She has got a decent record in hurdles, winning a couple of them out of the 18 she took part in.
Other than that, the seven-year-old mare has got a couple of runner up positions and three third place finishes to her name.
Carmela Maria will be partnered by young jockey, Edmond Linehan, who is yet to prove his worth in horseracing.
Howizee is another runner who can certainly finish in the top three of this event. He has got just one victory over hurdles, but that was quite an impressive one.
The six-year-old gelding had a starting price of 16 to 1 for that race and was not expected to challenge the race favourites. However, he did a superb job, winning the race easily in the end.
Maurice Barnes’ trained gelding will be partnered by Michael McAlister, jockey who has earned 24 victories over hurdles. However, the young rider will have to improve his winning percentage in order to make a name for himself.
Although there are some other decent runners as well, it will be a three-way battle between The Red Laird, Carmela Maria and Howizee.
