Question:

The Right of Way? (Traffic Related)?

This is probably the only thing I don't get about the rules of the road.

I read the Driver's Handbook about intersections and it keeps telling about having the right of way or yielding to those who have the right of way.

Can someone explain it briefly to me?

  1. The person that stops first at a 4-way has the right of way.  If all stop at the same time, then the person on the right I believe goes first.  If you are merging, you have to yeild the right of way... .meaning that you do not go until someone lets you in or there is enough room to go.  Yeilding is kind of like stopping for the other ppl.  It drives me crazy when ppl merge and dont give the right of way to ppl that have it.

  2. When two or more vehicles going to different destinations arrive at the same place on the road.  A law from Mother Nature says that only one can occupy a single spot on the road an any single moment.

When two attempt to challenge this law of Mother Nature it’s called an accident and Mother Nature smiles, she wins over man yet again.

As we don’t like loosing to Mother Nature we invented rules that we hope will deny Mother Nature her little pleasure in time.

Defining in law / road rules who should Yielding or who has the Right of Way is how we showed mother nature whose the boss.

    Neat A?
