I just finish reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy and have to do a project on it the problem is that I have no idea on what to do. All the teacher told us was to impress her and gave no guide lines. Can someone give me an idea on what to do.

I dont want to go to school with a bad project.

Thanks

  1. Write a review of the novel. Critique it. Point out it's strengths and weaknesses. Strengths being McCarthy's descriptive abilities and colorful metaphors etc. Weaknesses being the story itself, poor science fiction. All animal life destroyed except man? In a cataclysmic event mankind is likely to be the first to go. Cockroaches last.

  2. how artistic are you?

Could you possibly draw one picture per chapter - to summarize the theme of each chapter - like a childrens story book?

then put the pictures together in a cover like your own book - doing each chapter tells the teacher you have read the book and understand it.

good luck - maybe if you don't draw - you could get someone to draw - and you tell them what each picture should represent.  Design the picture and have an artistic friend do the drawings.  It would still be your work - if you design the drawings.  The best way would be for you to do both.

  3. Writing a book review on the novel is a great idea - but you could incorporate a little more to it as well... perhaps write an alternate ending to the story or continue further where McCarthy left off?

I'm sure anyone else who read the story would be interested to know someone else's interpretations of the book and different possibilities for the aftermath of it.
