The Robotics Apocalypse?

As technology is flying and developing exponentially. Do you believe that overtime the machines will have feelings causing them to destroy the true makers and reach singularity? (A point in which computers can create better ones without human help) Are our technicians even trying to stop that from possibly happen?

  1. Gr8 thought man!U r definitely thinkin in d right direction.I also feel that it is high time now 4 d scientists and researchers of today to put a check in developing artificial intelligence in machines otherwise the existence of d whole mankind would be at stake!

  2. Well, I don't have a crystal ball and it's easy to speculate. I've been an engineer for 27 years and from what I've seen, there's no evidence to support the notion that we can create an independently sentient robotic being - one with feelings and optionally blinking lights! :-)

Even our very best, Incredibly complex neural networks are little more than glorified adding machines - the missing component is missing because we can't grasp it. We've got all kinds of clever machines and contrivances, but all they amount to are very dim reflections of the limited intellect that created them; lacking the truly autonomous sentience that we read about in novels or see in Sci-Fi movies.

I think we truly lack the capacity to fully understand how marvellously spectacular we are.

This topic has plagued science for hundreds of years - can we create life? I say no - machines can't create machines that create machines more complex than themselves.

Somewhere around here, there's a "law" someone has written that states essentially that. Look on the plus side, if they ever do (and I humbly suggest it'll never happen) you can prosceute them for breaking that law :-)

  3. yea AWESOME question

scientists r currently working to achieve just that,

and lol this was foreseen way b4 u did

many SciFi games and TV programs r based on just that

and unless we have a discussion with them research will keep continuing

someone in the higher rung of researchers should b more careful and get to know about this threat

well all this is jus soo stupid

scientists still cant even understand how the actual human brain works(its soo complex)

how the h**l r they gonna create a replica which creates a replica?

its gonna b a long long long time for such a revolution to happen(if it ever happens that is)

no one has been successful to create life

and life as big and complex that can create life that too with creativity will be an impossible task(well creativity ISN'T a charecteristic of a robot so its life)

  4. Don't worry, we'll scorch the sky to eliminate their power source then move underground.
