how come when the US tries to go pick on little 3rd rate trashy countries they end up losing every time (thats including IRAQ)??????.....but when Russia is attacked, and people commit(as the US loves to say) ACTS OF TERROR!!! by killing thousand Russian citizens, RUSSIA fights back, and demolishes the country within 3 days.....thats THREE DAYS!!!!not freaking 6 years.... so i say either RUSSIA has the answer for terror that we dont, or people here should finally start realizing that all the c**p they US huffed an puffed and fed us when we were kids is not true, the US is not a super power, or at least the US definitely is not a MILITARY superpower thats for sure.... thats what the RUSSIANS are proving to US and the rest of the world

  1. Wow.. Alot to cover. It's not really proper to compare Iraq and Georgia. First of all, the war in Georgia isnt a forgeone conclusion either way. Also, the goals are totally different. The iraq war was won long ago

Saddam was removed and a new government installed. The goal wasn't to crush Iraq. At present, it is to keep the peace and rebuild. I think that saying we lost is a strech at best. We lost in Vietnam due to no stated goal. We won in Iraq.

As for who is right and wrong in the Russia / Georgia war.. I think both made mistakes. If ossentia want back into Russia, Georgia should let 'em go - not force them to stay. And Russia... They are going too far... In my opinion.

  2. what are you trying to get at?

  3. It's about oil, energy power.

  4. That's because, we occupied Iraq with the intent of restoring the nation, rather than decimating it. Destruction? We could easily do that, on the account of the fact we have the most nuclear warheads in the world. Different missions require different approaches, especially when both in starting and ending a war.

  5. Ohhh boy.

To start, go to google maps. Find Georgia. Find Iraq. Notice a size difference? That's one good reason. Also, Georgia has not been overrun as of now, not even close.

Another point, Russia was not attacked. A region of Georgia (that happens to contain many people with dual citizenship) decided to leave several years ago. Georgia attacked this breakaway region recently. Russia responded by aiding the breakaway region (claiming they were helping people with Russian passports) AND bombing/occupying areas that are undisputedly part of Georgia. One of them being about 70 km from the Georgian capital. Politics aside, there was no 'Act of Terror', it was regular warfare. There is a difference.

Lastly, the US and co. overran the entire Iraqi army and air force in a matter of days with very few casualties, also displacing the current government ran by Hussein. Since then hundreds of little groups (terrorists, separatists, radicals, etc) have been attacking the coalition forces for various reasons. They have gotten this chance, because the US has attempted to occupy the area and force a system of government (and to some extent culture) that is utterly foreign to Iraqi.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you really should do a little more research before telling us about it. Try the BBC for starters.

    edit*: typos.

  6. No, the U.S when it goes into foreign countries during wars have restraints to not hurt civilians, which is what most terrorists appear to be. Russia is going into a sovereign nation where the soldiers there are fighting conventional warfare where they have uniforms etc. and as well they are killing civilians which goes against the Geneva convention.

Also you have to consider the size of Georgia compared to Afghanistan. Russia sent in 20,000 troops to take over a small country, saying something?

The U.S overthrew Afghanistan by after a few weeks of fighting which marked the technical end of the conventional war. The war we are fighting is totally different than what Russia is fighting.

  7. the one guy has a point. We could have bombed the rats out of Iraq but US tried to destroy something but still keep it intact. Which you cannot do, you must obliterate all that oppose you and have everyone so scared they will sit when told to do so. And all these maniacs who blow themselves up well they don't care about life, so with that in mind act accordingly

All the generals and all the money and all the manpower, and we still don't have what we want. Pathetic .

It is incompetent leadership people plain and simple
