The Parliament of India has two houses - similar other countries with a Westminster system inherited from the British.

The lower house, the Lok Sabha, is the more powerful and currently has 545 members. Congress controls 150 seats and the BJP 130 seats. Along with its coalition partners, Congress has been able to form a government.
