The SLPL has been a thoroughly enjoyable event, says Scott Styris – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861, will
do well in the next season.
The final of the illustrious tournament is going to be played today at Colombo, between UVA Next and Nagenahira Nagas.
The Warriors, led by the former Sri Lankan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Jayasuriya-c2567, were extremely unlucky to have lost a final berth with the second semi-final being washed out due to rain. The Nagas defeated the Warriors in the league stage
by seven wickets, which helped them go through to the final.
Styris however, is not too disappointed at missing out on the final and thinks that the tournament has been a wonderful experience. The former New Zealand cricketer is satisfied with the facilities in the Island and expressed, while
talking to Pakpassion, that he loved playing alongside some of the legends of the game.
He mentioned, "The SLPL has been a thoroughly enjoyable event. I think it is a very well-organised tournament. It has been a great experience to be with the likes of [Sanath] Jayasuriya and [Kumar] Sangakkara. I’ve been really impressed
with the facilities and it’s been a great three weeks here."
Styris played a couple of matches for the franchise but failed to make an impression with either bat or ball. The all-rounder managed just five runs and went wicket-less. However, he is happy that the franchise qualified for the semi-final
and had a shot at the final, was it not for the wash-out.
In the presence of some match-winners like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665 in the ranks, the former Kiwi cricketer believes that the franchise will perform well in the next season.
"Although I haven’t played many games here, I am disappointed with my performance but that’s the way it goes sometimes! Our team with [Saeed] Ajmal and [Sohail] Tanvir is really great and if we have all players present then we can
do really well next season hopefully," Styris added.
